FPS Dips During Combat
Specs: 1660 super, R5 3600, 16GB Ram 3600mhz

I'm getting about 10 - 15 FPS drops when in combat, it stutters when I initiate and then when I do things like have Gladiolus use his ability it drops then too, the first cutscene with Ifrit I also go from 60FPS to 40FPS. I also get mini stutters when running around/panning. I've tried numerous fixes, spent about 4 hours on it. I've turned off all the Nvidia-specific settings, have put Tram, Shadows and Lighting all on average. I've tried turning off V-sync and enabling it outside of game via Nvidia. Turned off the steam overlay. I've downloaded Special-K to test it out and have only set the priority to above normal. I know this is a bad port, but some people seem to have zero issue while others struggle. My specs should be plenty to be running on high even, no? Has anyone got any ideas.

Edit - I actually fixed this issue by downgrading to the 1.25 patch which got me between 50 - 60FPS but all the weird stutters and jitteryness completely disappears. Ended up also turning on V-sync and Prefer Maximum Performance after having downgraded the patch and am now getting an almost solid 60 constantly. Apparently they implemented the workshop after 1.25 patch, so whatever they did there completely screwed the game.

Its not.
It was proven denuvo has zero performance impact on any relevant hardware.

I had FPS drops on my old PC (i5 6600k, gtx980ti, 16GB ram) not a singular issue or anything on current one (i7 10700K, rtx 3080, 32GB ram).

Its 100% hardware thing, game really is demanding at times.

How can it be a hardware thing, I have way beyond what it should take to keep the game at around a solid 60FPS, there has to be an issue somewhere.

Not really hardware. It's mostly that it's a terrible port that never really got full fixes, and works HORRIDLY on new hardware. It wasn't futureproofed at ALL so newer hardware and rendering styles can cause issues, it seems.

I've got a 2070 Super, I7 8700k, 32g of pretty solid ram and I'm only trying to output it to my native 3440x1440 screen on High. I used to be able to play on highest before I got newer, better hardware. Now playing on highest causes the framerate to dip to around 50 but stay there, high causes it to run at 100-ish in combat but only at about 5-7 frames a second during ANY form of cutscene, in engine or out, even though the audio plays as normal.

The engine they used is ugly as sin and ended up being a bad call. Some people don't remember this but this game was originally canned REALLY hard and didn't get even the little love it gets today until WAY later after they started trying to update it.

All I know is that when I initially engage in combat I get a framerate drop by about 10FPS, though after it's happened once or twice it seems to go away and then returns once I reload the game. So it seems to only be happening for the first few fights after I've reloaded. I also get a frame drop whenever a new area loads in. Almost all my settings are on average now and all the Nvidia stuff are turned off, I genuinely should have enough to get a solid 60fpish with my specs, I don't know what to do.

I downloaded the MS store version of the demo and it ran so much more smooth and in general better, only issue is that I don't really want to play through the MS store I want to play through steam. I wonder what the issue is exactly with the steam version that makes it perform at 20fps less and get random freezes etc.

It started to get the stuttering problem after the last DLC patch.
Another patch came out somewhat recently that I thought fixed it for the most part?

It became almost unplayable for me after that Adryan DLC patch, I haven't played it much since

All three store front versions of the game are botched in a different way. The only one that actually runs buttery smooth is the cracked version

Is the game running from the SSD?
Emanouche Mar 13, 2021 @ 3:55am
Runs buttery smooth 50-60 Fps on my Rx 580 with settings between high and highest, though I've set the game at 1080p. Not sure what's wrong, you're not trying to run the game at 4k are you?

Did you get the HD texture pack? Try setting it on medium if that's the case. (I'm just shooting here, I'm not sure what's wrong)

So i'm not the only one, i had a few hours in the game, several FPS drops and random crashes. That sucks in the fight...
