The game suddenly started lagging after good perfomance

Well, as the title says, I've faced pretty strange issue with this game. Its perfomance was overall great(60+ fps on ultra. Did not check FPS for a special reason, though it was definitely high) but suddenly today it "rejoiced" me by, like, 30-50 fps(average 46). Can anyone help me? My only guess is that today I accidentally launched the game with the other one being launched too. I immediately closed the other game and got back to ffxv, its FPS remained low. Even relaunch of the game and reboot of the PC didn't work. I would be very glad if anybody lend me a hand and help me deal with this issue. Thanks in advance!

P.S. Other games run as smooth as they were running before this.

I'm having exactly the same issue. I'm playing with an average of 72~80 fps (i7-9700k, RTX 3070, 16GB of RAM), and then, in specific places, the framerate drops to 25-35 fps with stutter. It seems that some areas of the game cause this framedrops. Honestly I don't know why this happens, maybe try deactivating the Nvidia Hairworks. I'll try later.

Final fantasy 15 on steam is just an extremely unoptimized port of the game. Chances are you won't be able to find a fix and will just have to deal with the bad performance like most of us. I'm amazed you even were reaching that fps to begin with tbh.

That is not the issue. In the beginning of my post i stated that the game ran very cool and smooth(have been playing it since the PC release) before the certain point. There were no updates of the game IIRC, so I dont really know what is the reason behind all of this.

Personally, for me the game itself ran good EVERYWHERE. The trouble is one day the game started to lag af and i dont get the reason for this. As for your trouble(lags ONLY in specific places), i dont have much to say cause i did not face that :(

If you haven't tried it already, completely uninstall video drivers (delete the leftover directories etc too), then reinstall. Such has occasionally helped even when I had a singular game acting funny.

Steam version is currently broken. It didn't use to be, but now it is, has terrible stutters and frame-drops everywhere.

Only the Windows Store and Origin versions run comparably to the consoles.

Mine still runs fine. I did have a tad more stutter when I both updated Win10 and nvidia drivers a little while back (after not updating either for over a year), but uninstalling/reinstalling video drivers (vs just "updating" them) put it back to normal.

Dunno.
