Ardyn episode or game base?
Hi, I want to buy the FINAL FANTASY XV EPISODE ARDYN COMPLETE EDITION, to start the ardyn episode, do you need to have finished the base game first?

All the videos I've seen show starting a new game. Would this episode be a new game+?

My question is: I want to start from the beginning, from the beginning with the base game. If I buy and choose "new game" will it be from the beginning of Noctis' story?

It is better to start with the main game, otherwise you can misunderstand a lot in the plot.
All episodes are better to pass when a certain moment comes, in the main game. For example, there will be a moment where Gladio will leave the entire company for a short time. This is the place where you need to go to the episode. When, Noct will pass the test with Leviathan, after immediately moving into the episode of Ignis. For Prompto, when Noctis accidentally throws him off the train. At this point, go to the episode.

To the question about the video: In this case, there will be no new game+.
To the third question: If there are no saved records, you will start the game from scratch.

Oh! That's what I meant.
I couldn't explain it correctly, but you understood!
In my case, I don't have save records yet.

After I complete the game and the Ardyn episode, do I need to delete the save record or is there something like save record slots, to start from scratch?

If you have a current save/playthru and want to a start a new one, you just start a New Game (no +). This does not overwrite any manual saves you've made.

The game cycles auto-saves between two slots - it will autosave every major load/story scene and every single time you fast-travel (if you do that) and camp/rest, so they are absolutely not a reliable way to backtrack if something goes wrong/you want to re-do something.

There are 8 manual save slots. So technically you could have 8 different playthrus going at once, without having to backup sets of saves elsewhere, if you're fine with only one slot per playthru. EDIT: DLC has their own save slots since they are accessed/separated from main game.

If story and not being overly spoiled is one of your concerns, I wouldn't play Episode Ignis until after completing main story. It does have an end-game spoiler in it, because it assumes you finished the story already. Up to you, tho.

You cant actually delete any saves (without some Steam cloud manipulation magic), only overwrite them with a new save. And each episode has its own set of save slots so you cant overwrite main game with Ardyn for example.
If its your first time you should definitely start with the main game.

Oh. Thank you guys!!
I'll definity buy the complete edition.
I liked to play a demo. Very nice game.
Only U$ 15 or R$76 BRL(Brazil) For the complete edition with ardyn episode. Nice price.

Well...if you don't use the Cloud, saves are written to your local disk instead, so you can go into the folders and delete/copy/paste etc. that way, like with any other locally saved, save files. >.>

...but yeah, Cloud. It's one reason I don't use the Cloud.

I know this is an old post, but thanks man, i played the game along time ago when it came out, but have never finished, and now want to give it a go, going back on my gaming list since there havent been good games lately, so taking the chance to finish old games.

To get the true full story of FFXV you would also have to watch the anime episodes and the 3d CGI movie. A lot of fans whare not happy that the story was so fragmented across different kinds of media.

I strongly recommend against watching CGI (Kingslaive) for its story. Its full of confusing inconsistencies with the game. It portrays many characters (most importantly Ravus) in a way that completely contradicts their actual role and motivation in the game.
The movie was directed by a separate team, they either worked with an early draft of game's story, lacked inter-teams communication or deliberately took a lot of liberties.
It has some nice action CGI scenes tho.
