4k texture pack worth it?
Like 100 something gigs is pretty major, is it even worth it? I only d/l @ 10 megs per second and I also don't like the idea of writing so much to my SSD what with limited lifetime on them...

It does look pretty alright but the size is insane lol, guess thats what you get. I personally didn't end up getting it, some billboards and stuff can look pretty low quality though so the 4k pack is sure to fix it.

My experience is only limited to play at 1080p at average preset with 4GB VRAM.. and I'd say it's not worth downloading. Actually it makes the texture worse on average TRAM, but if TRAM is set to high, the texture looks better than without assets on. Can easily test this on Cup Noodles billboard.

If you don't have a monitor for 4k, then no.

If your internet is slow and you're using or are limited to a 27" or smaller 1080 with no resolution scaling, and have low video-ram, it's probably not worth the time to bother, no ... unless you're really picky re: texture and movie quality.

The pack isn't just game textures, it's also higher resolution movies. Taller/longer default grass, a bit, in the main open world section.

You don't need a 4k monitor to notice the difference however. That said, it's not so huge a difference overall that most are going to care tons for gameplay (screenshots might be another matter). There are still plenty of not-so-stellar textures that don't bear up close inspection, even with the 4k pack, and it can feel pretty inconsistent to see great texture here with a terrible one there. >.>

I have a 2k monitor and a RTX 3090. It is 27" though.

I just really don't like such a massive download and putting it on my SSD.

Heh, when I first download the PC version of this game I was at 4MB/sec. It took all night to download everything or something like that.

Anyway, I don't know the age of your SSD but they're not like the early days. Unless you're doing constant heavy video writing/editing (eg, it was your job) or something along those lines, it's not that big a deal re: writing large info to it now and then. Sure, they might not last 15 years like some HDD's could, but it's still going to last you 5-7 years or more, possibly until you want to make a whole new rig anyway. I have all my games installed on my nvme m2 drive. Don't worry about installing/re-installing games overmuch.

Yeah, it 2560x1440. Well, if I end up deleting some older games I don't play anymore I might consider getting the pack.

Stop saying that, because it's not true. I played it at 1080 originally with 4k pack and I could see the difference in many things - a giant 4k screen (especially OLED one, haha) just makes it look even better. I've seen others say the same and screenshots you can see it too. It's just hit and miss because as I said before, not 100% of textures/objects get higher res. treatment.

Edit: it's like saying all those people running Skyrim higher-texture mods don't see a difference. >.>

But it will be more of a performance hit probably. Although I don't think the TC's RTX-3090 at 1440 would have much of a problem with it. :steammocking: EditEdit: I ran the game w/4k pack at 4k/30+fps on a 980ti just fine.

If you've got the specs to run this game maxed out then yes, even when not at 4K it's worth it.

4k with dlss looks nice, no more aliasing, have to disable some nvidia effects but with this texture pack it does look good and can see difference
