Are the Coeurls supposed to be god mode?
WOW!

Level 34 Coeurls (or whatever level they are on the hunt) are tearing apart my level 50 (now 55 lmao) crew like nothing else.

EDIT:

Since the loser in the first post is far to dumb to figure it out. I am talking about the Hunt ones. They just pewpewpew hah. Loving it. Looking for tips on them!

If your in the normal game, wait mode is really all I can suggest.

BUT IF YOUR PLAYING COMRADES, I highly recommend A) Using a shield or B) using a mace. These will stagger them and make them open to attacks. Any other weapons are your choice. Also, before you go on the hunt in Comrades, do a hunt where you fight a Marlboro, they drop Marlboro Tentacles which are used for Marlboro Soup (I think it's soup) This Marlboro "Soup" prevents instant death, meaning you shouldn't get 1 shot any longer making them much much easier.

Eating the Marlboro food and having Maces and or Shields being used helped me out A LOT and make it quite a bit easier. Hope this helped.

I remember that fight when I played it on PS4. I was in full rage mode whenever I came across Coeurls for the rest of the game. >_>

The best strategy I have found is cheesing them. The Hunt ones for instance that have like 3-5 of them you can just play as prompto and stand on a rock and slowly kill them with little repercussions

Since you're doing the hunt which pits you against 5 level 35 Coeurls at the same it gets artificially difficult. And yes, they are somewhat unbalanced and are supposed to be a pain in the arse. Atleast they're not Elder Coeurls which are a different and more pain in itself. I'll tell you how I completed it and you can give it a try and see if it helps you or not.

1) (a) If Ignis haven't learned the recipes yet - Go to Galdin Quay and order "Steamed Crab with Rock Salt" from the restaurant. Then fast travel to the quest location.

(b) If Ignis already knows the recipe - Go to the nearest camp and use that.

2) Absorb fire energy from sources until you have 99. Then craft Quintcast Fira or if you don't have the necessary ingredients,Quadcast Fira will do and have atleast 5 of them ready because Coeurls are weak to fire.

3) Check if you have the following items. Lightning Crest,Talisman,Reflex Enhancer and Muscle Stimulant.

4) Go to the location and Gear up Noctis with Lightning Crest and Talisman and after the fght starts use Reflex Enhancer but you can't dondge their lightning attacks but hopefully you have the crest. When the tech bar fills up use Muscle Stimulant on Gladio and use Downhammer.

5) Use Quincast/Quadcast Fira and if it's high enough potency,it will kill.

6) During the fight you will see some Coeurls randomly sitting down as if they lost interest. At that time you'll have an unusual urge to attack them to get some free hits. When you get that urge.................FIGHT IT. Do not......DO NOT attack when they're sleeping(sitting down). It's a one hit mechanic and if you hit them during that it will reflect the whole damage back to you. Keep dodging and parrying their physical attacks during the magic cooldown period and do not get greedy by losing patience and go for free hits.

Good Luck.

OR
If you just wanna cheese them use killcast.

Protip: Getting one-shotted doesn't matter in this game because you can Phoenix Down yourself. With enough healing consumables there's nothing you can't face-tank to death.

(Which is good, because the the camera is much too terrible to rely on strategy against most enemies. Nothing like whole fights where you see nothing but spinning trees...)

Except the dungeon where you can't use items...

If there's a Coeurl in the arena bet all your money on it no matter what -> GG
So much about that :P

Offtopic, but how would you do that? :jdhat: ...can only bet 9999 coins. Takes ages to get enough coins :emofdr:.

I think they have a counter attack that will simply one-shot you, specifically when they're sitting down and you attack them. I could be wrong on that.

Yes, if they are sitting down DO NOT Warp Strike them!

I think 9999 is the limit and speaking of, I've never seen a coeurl in there myself.
Lots of Sabertusks which is nice as they usually have odds of 3-5. They have high attack speed and will win 9/10 times for me. Sure it takes some time, but 50k a round is nice.
Scorpions are my 2nd bet, my highest win was 9999 x 9.9 odds with a group of 5 weak scorpions.
