Doesn't have to be a warp strike, some of the other normal attack combo moves put you in the air as well. Once in the air you just keep moving around with the movement controls to stay in the air.
Not sure about KB/mouse, I've always used a controller with this game.
For me it always starts working pretty good after warp strikes, then I can stay in the air for a bit.
It's quite a bit different than say, DmC or Nier: Automata though. Not as refined of a button masher lol.
First of all you need to get into the air which could be done by...
- jumping (unexpected i know)
- warp to an enemy or limb which is high enough above the ground
- some weapon's directional attacks end up in air (e.g. the sword's backwards attack)
From there you only have to hold "attack" and Noct will do a short aircombo (about 3-5 hits). With the sidesteps unlocked you can hold a directional key (w, a, s, d) down which allows him to do a short warp into this direction after each combo. After this warp he will then warp back to the target and do another combo but only if he's still in air and actually hits it.
Note that you keep holding down the attack key all the time during this air dance and that it uses up mp pretty quick at some point.
Hope that's a little insight.
Never managed to successfully test the air-dodge/block sadly...
