I hate to ask this BUT
I am new to all the final fantasy stuff and i am loving it so far but i am having trouble figuring out how to airstep, airdance etc. Do i have to jump first to get it going or something? Or is it triggered during a warp etc etc. I have messed around and practiced but i cant seem to get it down, I am SURE it is a small thing i am doing but i figured i would ask here to see what yall had to say :(

Always seemed to require you being in the air initially before it "sticks."
Doesn't have to be a warp strike, some of the other normal attack combo moves put you in the air as well. Once in the air you just keep moving around with the movement controls to stay in the air.

Not sure about KB/mouse, I've always used a controller with this game.

There are some things to unlock as well that give you a second and third "step" in the air before you can really start doing cool stuff.

For me it always starts working pretty good after warp strikes, then I can stay in the air for a bit.

It's quite a bit different than say, DmC or Nier: Automata though. Not as refined of a button masher lol.

It can be hard to get it going if the enemies are really "short," too.

I'm not a master at all and sadly i never really tried the air fight stuff before i unlocked the air-sidesteps from the tree but here's what i figured out so far:

First of all you need to get into the air which could be done by...
- jumping (unexpected i know)
- warp to an enemy or limb which is high enough above the ground
- some weapon's directional attacks end up in air (e.g. the sword's backwards attack)

From there you only have to hold "attack" and Noct will do a short aircombo (about 3-5 hits). With the sidesteps unlocked you can hold a directional key (w, a, s, d) down which allows him to do a short warp into this direction after each combo. After this warp he will then warp back to the target and do another combo but only if he's still in air and actually hits it.

Note that you keep holding down the attack key all the time during this air dance and that it uses up mp pretty quick at some point.

Hope that's a little insight.

Never managed to successfully test the air-dodge/block sadly...

I use the air dance all the time cause of how cool it looks, but yea just jump and attack and use the directional keys to keep in the air. I have the infinite airdance update which I recommend getting despite the AP point cost as it’s really useful against bigger and flying enemies and it works especially well if it’s a combination of both like the Griffith or something.
