liege of the lake tips
Failed miserably at this on the ps4 but got my first time on the PC from tips I learned.

is a guide here but I will add some notes.

https://www.reddit.com/r/FFXV/comments/5i4sus/tips_for_catching_the_liege_of_the_lake/

1 - When a fish jumps, you hit the right direction it loses HP, however there is a much nicer second boost, you are guarantueed 3 turns on the rod without the fish fighting afterwards, for fish who fight a lot this is massive. Dont reel right after incase you guess the wrong direction it will move after it lands, if you have to correct the direction, you will still have time for at least 2 turns.
2 - I learned on the liege its better to reel when its struggling not when its not struggling, the reason been it usually doesnt change direction whilst its struggling, you can do one turn and your rod wont lose any durability whilst its struggling. This is especially important when its close to you as it does much more frequent direction changes, at this point if you only wheel when its struggling and when it jumps, you should be good.

I went from failing on the ps4 to catching it with around 1300 HP left on the rod.

Actually, its pretty easy. Im on almost 90% of my fish datalog and easily lvl 10 on fishing, one of the fun thing in FFXV as a real avid angler myself.

All it needs is just patience and preferable a controller with vibration, it would be rather hard for K&M players. For big catches like the liege, striking while jumping indeed does reduce the stamina slightly, but really negligible, but you cant miss it, or chances are your line will snap.

Just be patient when you encounter mega fishes and don't rush things, higher level fishing skill helps, so does completing Navyth quest for the best rod in game and getting the best Reel in game from Monster Arena which is really easy.

This was done on the DLC equipment, I believe there is a better attack piece in altissa, but what I have may be the best defense cannot remember. What it loses on the jump is equivelent to about 1 and half turns, add the 3 turns you get when it lands its pretty nice.

Best rod in game is from Navyth quest, you need to fish the big fish at Galdin Quay, the one that doesnt appear on Radar.
