Transferring cracked saves to Steam

Until today, I'd been playing the game using a cracked copy and sunk a decent amount of time into it (~15 hours). Well, I finally got around to buying a legit copy seeing as it's on sale (I already own the PS4 version) and figured I'd try transferring my save from the cracked version to Steam, but even after copying the save files to every possible folder I could find, the game can't see them at all. Is transferring even possible? Replaying the game up until the point I was at (chapter 3-ish, I think?) isn't exactly a bad prospect but I'd really rather not have wasted the time, if you get me?

did you try to create a new file , save at hammerhead and then replace that file in the folder ? ( idk exactly where ffxv saves the savefiles

also turn off steam cloud , it could probably revert the file you replaced

The strangest thing happened. I gave up for the night and went to bed. When I went back to it last night after work, the game started recognising my saves and now I can carry on where I left off with no issues. Maybe a restart was all that was needed?

I tested drm-free version and it's running much better here. I got a increase of 10fps, no stutters and no framedrops. That's most disrespectful from Square-Enix.

Hey,since i also face the same problem,can i ask you some question about the ffxv save files?
1. My cracked ffxv was from Skidrow,if we have the cracked version may i know where the save files?
2.Did you uninstall the cracked ffxv after installing the legit steam ffxv?
3. If Q2 is yes, did u copy the save files first bfore uninstall?
4. Based on your reply,seems like the cracked ffxv saved data miraculously been recognized after restarting the device,does the cracked ffxv data added into the load data option in-game together with the new legit ffxv?

Hi there. I'm really sorry but it's been nearly four years since I initially posted this, so I may not remember much all that accurately. I'll answer your questions as best I can:

1. Take a look in Documents>My Games. I think that's where I found them.
2. I uninstalled the cracked version before downloading the Steam version because of storage space limitations.
3. Yes, back your save files up to your Desktop before uninstalling the cracked version. Make sure to keep your backups there until your saves are up and running in the Steam version.
4. Yes, your save files should appear in the legit FFXV load/save menu after restarting. I can't guarantee that that's the reason they started working, though. You'll just have to cross your fingers and hope that they work.
