So what's the science to raising Chocobos in Comrades?
Is it pure RNG trash? I've done a bit of research, and I know that you need a Chocobo that drops at level 50 or higher for it to get to level 99. However, I've had four or five of those drop, and they never get past 60. I read something about you having to max their stat, but nobody went into detail about what that even meant.

If it is indeed RNG trash, I think I'll put this down for awhile. I've had enough of that in Monster Hunter: World.

Drops at level 50? Not sure whatv you mean by that. Mine is only level 6. Havne't really thought about seriously leveling them.

Are there any benefits to it?

you can get some items in the arena, where the monsters was in single player game and open some tracks at the map, they will become avaidable after you finish the first prt of comrades

it is simple to get one to 99
you need a to catch a level 50 chocobo, then you train alltime all stats at once, the option on buttom, till injured and need to rest
when you can not reach 99 do not go back, where you can chose your chocobos, instead press alt f4 while you are in the chocobo trainin screen
load comrades again and train the chocobo again, till you can manage it to 99 - it is mostly alltime over 200 stats at all, expect speed
with luck you can get 300 at all stats - it is jus random, how often injured, good mood etc

for the arena you should need 4 good chocobos, but dont need to be 99
