FINAL FANTASY XV WINDOWS EDITION

FINAL FANTASY XV WINDOWS EDITION

Statistiche:
What is current state of the performance in FFXV?
I've read there were memory leaks and overall very poor performance after certain update. Is it being fixed? I am wondering if it's okay to buy this version. I have completed it on PS4 and want to revisit. But if it's broken I'll pass.

[After some time edit]

I think the better advise is to get it on console, or the different pc version in the different shop. Buy and rush to [insert] point to see if it works - not so much.

Pretty much broken on Steam, while perfect on Origin and Windows Store. Get them on those platforms if you want, I doubt we'll be getting any updates here.

And yet, I've logged 45 some odd hours since buying the game on the 20th and have only had 1 crash and am well into the endgame content (including beating all of the character DLC episodes including Ardyn).

OP: Pick the game up while it's still on sale and give it a try... maybe you'll be like me and won't have any issues... and if not... it's only $20. Surely you've spent more than that on things that didn't didn't work.
I have 12 hours in-game, a PC with a Ryzen 1700 with RX 590 and 32gb of RAM , I play on QHD 1440p on High and it sits on 30-40 FPS , it stutters initial in battle , after applying reshade the game kind of stopped stutterig. But yeah it seems to be better on other plattforms.
My rig is not that powerful, I have a wooden videocard by today's standards which was 100$ several years ago and only 8 gigs of ram. So I'm not sure.

I'm running an Alienware Alpha R1 with an I3 4130T, 8GB of RAM, 860M video (basically a 750Ti) and a 500GB SSD. I've been playing at 1080p with Average settings @ 30FPS without issue.

I finished the game some time ago as soon as it came out with a GTX 770, an i5 4670, 8gb of ram and a HDD (so no SSD) and didn't have many problems.

Latest updates broke the game for me and now I can't even play it smoothly on GTX 1060...
I wonder if I will be able to judge performance based on the demo.

The demo is based on an older version of the game and is not a good indicator of performance. You'll want to get the full game and get to Chapter 3. If you can get to that point, you should be able to gauge the game's overall performance.

This is what angers me the most. Both the demo and the official FFXV Benchmark cannot be trusted. The demo runs as smooth as butter on my system and the Benchmark gives me something like 6500 points, stating that I would be able to play with high preset and Nvidia turf + Nvidia hairworks without issues. If I try to set the game with the suggested settings my pc literally explodes. Only game that does that.
Game has a severe stutter that apparently this https://steamcommunity.com/app/637650/discussions/0/1643166649092348875/ older patch fixes. I haven't played the game on the most recent version because saves aren't backwards compatible but I can tell you that I haven't experienced any stuttering running that patch.

This is fake news. lol... Im not sure why everyone and their mom thinks this is true, its been circling for ages now that steam is broken and it works fine everywhere else, which is not the case. Users from other platforms are also having issues.

The whole FFXV Reddit and even a video here on steam prove you wrong, so have fun believing what you want.

The game doesn't suffer from the heavy stutters-freezes that happen very frequently on the steam version.

To be fair, I have seen some posts that stated the other versions did have minor micro stuttering still, for them. But by and large - if you have the major Steam-stutter issue to start with - the other store versions do apparently run a lot better to the point if there is anything it's not very noticeable if at all.

Probably depends just how sensitive one is to to frame pacing issues as well, not just actual micro-stuttering. Like on the PS4/Pro I noticed the frame pacing being off a lot, when I normally don't find such all that bothersome. On the PC (for me) I think I notice it a little occasionally but it's nothing like it was on console.

Also, all the start of combat animation loading (like when you call for a Tech) may cause a very minor hitch/frame delay occasionally. Not all the time. Maybe cache related. Happened on console too. Swapping the bro's on the PS4/Pro was very frame-hitchy in my experience and that long delay was worse. Probably more noticeable if one is also trying to record video while playing too.

To answer the TC's question - really there's no good answer. Since the last/final update some people have serious stutter issues with the Steam version. For others it's just fine or at the most nothing more than a minor single very short stutter once in a great while. No one has figured out the true reason for it so it's going to come down to random luck what you and your rig experience.

Having 4k pack installed (you don't have to play in 4k, just install it) may help in some cases.

The memory leaks have been around since day 1 for some people. Again, random luck and I think it's not all that common. But it's not like I have access to stats from all the 100's of thousands of players who bought the game on Steam, so ...

Since Steam has a refund policy, the only advice I could give is to buy it (since it's cheap now) and start a rush game to Chapt. 3 (since you already played it) which is possible within 2 hrs I think, and see how it performs there. If it's bad, refund it. If it seems fine, play. ;)

don't know if it really fixes it but for me personally the memory leak seems to stop when i turn nvidia turfeffect off
have a 2080, had gpu memory usage at 99 % (and soon after that crash) even with tram turned to average- now it seems to not get higher than 60% and that seems ok so far
tried with and without 4k textures did not make a diffenrence for me by the way (performancewise)

about judging the performance from the demo- i had no memeory eak while playing the demo snd in the full game i had it -so i think you can't judge from playing the demo
