Should I watch Kingsglaive before playing the game?
My friends are all telling me NOT to watch Kingsglaive before playing the game. Many online articles and people online are telling me that I should. I also heard of another video or show. I don't know what to do!

Also, is the movie included with the game? Or do I need to seek it out separately?

I think it should be watched at the end of the main campaign. Even if its a prologe, you will appreciate and understand best the background details in the plot. It's the same for Brotherhood anime, I tried to watch it before the game and I felt boring the plot..

Kingslaive and Brotherhood are not included in the main game.

If you want to be fully investing into the lore and story of XV, watch Kingsglaive (and possibly Brotherhood).

Watching Kingsglaive is not nessesarily needed. The game does an ok job at get getting you up to speed with the story. Additionally, the story isn't yet fully complete. There is more story DLC to come. (The game will be fully complete by Summer 2019 when the last DLC has been released and Square Enix will stop all development on the game)

Brotherhood is more important IMO.

I really liked Kingsglaive. I don't think it's necessary, but it does give a general idea of what's going on in the world.

Brotherhood is for individual character backstory. Basically tells you how Noctis came to find his buddies and what their lives were like when they were kids and what not. It's episodic for each character. It does help to understand who the people are that you're travelling with, and why.

I wouldn't say either Kingsglaive or Brotherhood anime contain any spoilers. I did watch Kingsglaive a year before I played the game and felt a little lost about who all the kingdoms were (not that the game actually answers all those questions). Then I rewatched the Kingsglaive movie after playing a few chapters into the game. It was a nice refresher, and I watched the Brotherhood anime then as well. I think it is good to start the game, get into the world a little, and then go ahead and get into some of the multi-media add ons while you are still playing. There is also a short written out theatrical play-style novella about the night before the boys all head out that you can read to get a little bit more background on the guys' personalities a little.

While none of it is necessary, it certainly is nice to flesh out the background a little if you really get into the game like I did.

a link to the Final Fantasy XV Parting Ways novella (Japanese audio with English text):

There are 15 chapters to Parting Ways, but each is just a few minutes short, just make sure you do them all if you want the full scene.

i would actually watch the brotherhood thing because it might make you care a bit more about the companions because you actually know a bit about them and they are not just guys with bad haircuts in leather jackets.

IMO if you wanna get the whole experience in the right order you should do this:

- Play the game till you have to sleep in Galdin Quay due to a main story quest(just before the end of Chapter 1). IMPORTANT NOTE: don't watch/read any game dialog/scene after sleep or you're gonna spoil the movie
- Watch Kingslaive
- Read the novel (very short, aprox 15 minutes reading)
- Play the game till you have the quest to go to Caem
- Watch the anime series (short too aprox 1hour to see all chapters)
- Continue playing the game.

As for DLC just google when to play it because i don't remember exaclty when but i think its:

- Gladio DLC in chapter 7
- Prompto DLC at 12 (not pretty sure about this one)
- Ignis DLC when you finish the main story
- Comrades DLC after Ignis

This is IMO the best way to do it without spoiling anything at the wrong time (Anime could be seen just after the novel without a major spoiler but i prefer to do it when you have to go to Caem, because it's when it happens)

The movie was included in the deluxe version of the console game, if you buy the windows edition you have to watch it from another source.

Do yourself a favor and don't play this game at all... It's honestly among the worst RPGs I ever played and I'm a long time fan of Final Fantasy... Square-Enix just isn't the great company they used to be.

Well that's a pretty subjective statement. I have played most Final Fantasy games since the early 90's and I have now found FFXV to be my favorite one to date. If someone is on the line about the game, it is probably best to check out the Demo version first as everyone has different styles and tastes when it comes to gaming.
