Can we obtain Carbuncle?

I've been wondering about this too.

Actually hoped the benchmark would be a playable demo, just like the platinum one, since it has tons of nifty little visual effects and all that.

Aparently Carbuncle only plays a non story role as a auto-life summon on easy mode.
so you can't ever actually die on easy mode.

Yup...they did that a while back.
I never downloaded/played it either thus I don't have it - although the "No Carbuncle allowed" symbol still shows up in some fights if I have it on Easy difficulty, lol.

The Chocobo Festival has him following you around tho - I'm unsure if PC gets to play that or if they're just giving the main item rewards from it from the start of a game or what.

I am playing on normal difficulty and carbuncle showed up in a random photo of Gladio that Prompto took in combat... no way to interact with him but he may still be there are an easter egg.

He is, have you noticed noct says he thought he saw something in the photo's when you review them, Carbuncle is in them hiding! spun out when i noticed this!

but i think he gets obscured sometimes by characters and you can't see him.

I see the little bugger in photos sometimes. it would be nice to get a summon with a nice reflect or wall buff and regen off of him or something
