1.They're married in the afterlife
2. Ardyn is cursed with immortality and the ability to absorb the starscourge into himself (starscourge is the disease that turns folks into daemon), I think immortal + hosting tons of demons inside his body gives him large amount of strength
1. They are dead, the ending is merely a depiction of their "afterlifes", there's also theory of an alternate universe etc, but for now, lets just take it as they are dead and there is nothing to imply otherwise.
2. Ardyn isnt just any Lucian, he was the First lucis king's brother(elder brother, as implied in Japanese audio, not mentioned in English). Having the same power as Luna, an oracle, he has ability to heal people and save them from becoming a Daemon, in doing so, taking the damage himself. Over the years, the Daemon inside him grows stronger and stronger, thus consuming himself, his hatred over what his brother and the Gods/Astrals did to him(abandoned him) drives him even further.
Then again, technically, there isnt any mention that he is stronger than the gods, he was not the one who slayed Shiva, it was the Imperials and their technology, with him pulling strings from the back.
Maybe, but imho it is poorly written. Killing characters to which player has no emotions because they weren't really introduced, the whole Empire is basically removed from planet before we can even meet them properly, bosses are mostly mechs, animals and daemons etc.
Seriously? You think the fault is in not paying attention? That backstory is gibberish and convoluted garbage wrapped into one. H e v l a s k a's explanation is helpful, but some of it I still don't know how you all got that from those cutscenes. But hey, congrats on being smart enough to decipher it.
Everyone else has back story told through either the DLC or Kingsglaive
Did the boys died? I think they did
The main game's story alone, leaves much to be explored, but that doesnt make it incomplete. Within the game, there is so much scattered information to be explored, quests/sides being one of them, clues left in the game's design, lores (cosmology) and other tidbits of clues and wordplay by key characters. It isnt Sherlock Holmes, but just put a little attention, im sure anyone would have discovered them. For those who rushed end game below 12-15 hours, so sorry for you.
Apart from that, to solidify the hints left throughout the game, there is Kingsglaive movie, Brotherhood anime, 3 bros DLC and finally Comrades. I didnt like it it at first, but ultimately, i couldn't have it any other way. Its brilliantly put together, call it shallow as you will, this will be a good stepping stone for the next franchise.
Maybe but i Think it was because the Boys will ever be with him, that even death cannot split them.
