[Question] Coeurl one-shotting (Answered)
So I have 4k HP, and I'm 4 lvls higher then Kerl, but this piece of♥♥♥♥♥♥cat just instantly one-shots me with unblockable attack. Is this intended? If I need to 'git gud' -- what am I doing wrong?

EDIT: By one-shotting I mean he bypasses the 'down but not out' state and just outright kills my character, even if he was at full HP before the attack

Not a bug. The attack is AoE, which was implied in the game.

I must've missed it then, since I haven't seen any tutorial (assuming you mean that) message or otherwise about this attack.
Not possible that you didn't receive the message. Ignis pulls you aside and explains the Coeurl's counter attack. Prompto then asks what happens if you don't dodge it, and Ignis replies "You die". It's unskippable.

Either burst it with Amiger/summon/technique or avoid insta death counter attack, or use deathproof item.

Isn't it a bit too much though, to use deathproof item just to fight a non-boss enemy? I mean, even demonic Giants and Necromancers don't have such BS.

But thanks for advice. I guess.

Assuming you mean Coeurl, the game literally warns you that they have an instant death counter-attack.

It doesn't show a promt, if he counters someone else and not PC. So I guess it IS bugged, eh?

It isn't a bug, there are a few enemies that can do insta death. Deathclaw is another coming to minds and it's a pain in the ass in Comrades more so than Coeurl.

Step 1: get Ignis' technique Sage Fire. Step 2: warp around unti you can use it. Step 3: Use Sagefire and watch Courel die quickly. Step 4: ???. Step 5: Use any type of fire attacks on them if Sagefire doesn't kill.

Or just make a 5 chain Fire with 40 potency. That's pretty easy you can make very early in game.

I swear, there was not such a dialog! Well, you're free to doubt it, since it's internet alright, but the first Coeurl I've encounteret was near the first King's Tomb (and it was alone). There was no dialog and it did not use the insta-kill attack at the time. Maybe that's how I accidentally skipped it?

Anyway, thanks for answers everyone. And for heads up about simillar attaks too! Consider my questions answered.

I also never got this scene...

Although, I do tend to warp stirke initiate almost every battle, and the couple of times I've been pulled aside happened before they aggroed and before I warp striked into melee...

So, I'm thinking it may be possible to skip these scenes if you warp strike to the enemies before the scene triggers.
