The main difference vs the noctis path on the new version, is the original game had much more enemies in the corridor areas, and death took much longer to be used, also the hp reduction during death charging was lower as well. So in the original game you kept running out of MP meaning those areas to hide in had to be used whilst MP was recharging.
This probably added 20-30 mins maximum to the chapter time, unless you are pretty bad at the game.
Some parts of chapter 13 seem just broken now, e.g. you walk into a room and you get told you walked into a trap, but no enemies spawn cause they got removed.

So, from a narritive standpoint I always kind of liked what they did with it, but in terms of pace, yeah it was a bit long and the Ring was SO BAD in the original version that it was almost pointless to even try and use it. Now a large part of the tension is gone since you can wreck everything almost instantly.
I'll give it awhile incase I decide to come back to the game but ♥♥♥♥♥♥♥♥♥ that was boring.
Also that whole prompto bit was entirely pointless and horribly implemented.
Kingdom Hearts 3 will get a remaster on the ps5 by the time FFXV is completely finished LOL!
When people said that Chapters 10 to 15 was rushed to completion...they weren't joking. Like they could've condensed Chapter 10 to 13 alone and called it the new Chapter 10 but nooo....they had to make these short filler levels just so they can say "We have 15 chapters in the game" matching the title number or something. You can also see when you enter the second map area that the entire second map (Niflheim) was cut from the game and only that train section remains. Now I finally understand those out of bound places people managed to go to.
Like seriously, they should've just delayed this game for however long more to make the full game and then release it. But its too late now. What's done is done. Final Fantasy XV will be etched in gaming history as one of the most mundane and bland game in terms of story out of all the Final Fantasy games.
Yeah I was really disappointed by chapters 10-13 as well. I'd recommend you keep playing up until Chapter 14, when you reach Insomnia. The new explorable map and the epic battles in this chapter are truely memoriable; and the ending is actually really good despite the terrible character dialog (Prompto still acts like he did 10 years ago, doesn't fit in at all imo) that leads up to it. Not to mention you get to unlock the Regalia Type F airplane mod as soon as you beat the game, which is a blast to fly. It's a shame that the whole Nilfgard continent had to be condensed to a short filler train ride segment, with no exploration and cringeworthy dialog between Ardyn and Noctis.
open world map with a linear path.
You dont get to go as you please until late game.
