I didn't mind the linearity of the chapter, but I did mind how boring it was and how hiding from the MTs didn't even matter. It just dragged on for far too long before meeting up with the bros and finally having a boss fight.
Played it on the PS4 before the rings buff and it was pretty annoying because the game almost literally makes you go into hiding and wait for the MTs or guards to walk pass to avoid confrontation. I guess it was "okay" for the first 10 or 20 mins but just got annoying and boring pretty fast. Its not as bad anymore with the new ring but still, hated that part of the game.
The alternative route does sound enticing.
I actually prefer it over the Verse 2 tho. Even before Verse 2/buffed Ring the ring's Holy was more than enough to battle the soldiers. I never hid or avoided them at all, just let them kill themselves bouncing off my Holy spell. I think that was the best aspect/fun of that level, for me.
But otherwise it was slow but it had info you need to understand
That sounds so terrible, glad Square decided to patch the damn level.
I've played the level for over an hour, but I'm confident I'm near the end.
