It's a separate menu on the game title.
It works like this, in the main story, one of your team member will be left on their own.
You don't know or see what happens to see. That's your cue to boot the game out and go play their dlc after you've reunited with them to see what happened.
You can play them any time though, you don't need to beat the game.
What about my gears and stats? Do they carry over
There's a new game plus but the user was incorrect, you can play the DLC any time.
No.
Guess this game has all the aspects i dunt really like
Completing each one will give you new weapons and costumes in the main game.
Gladuis and Prompto adds nothing to the end. They just show what happens when they are gone from the party at a certain part in the story.
Ignis on the other hand might have end game story spoiler.
You might be confusing that with the comments that suggest you complete the main campaign before playing the episodes. You can still play them on a first play through, but it's recommended not to until you beat the game, because some of those episodes (Ignis for sure because of its alternative ending) spoil parts of the game's later portions before you've even reached it in the main campaign.
Since you can now Switch to each character in battle and play as them there's a certain value that transfers over.
Basically you learn how to use them in the DLC, then all that stuff applies when you switch to them in the main game... I haven't done it yet, but that's kind of what I'm seeing.
Was hoping there was some kind of unlock in the main game or something for beating them but I guess not. It wouldn't have to be a full transfer just beat Episode Gladio and get something unlocked for Gladio on all main games. IDK... seems to be what people want.
So it's really the skill in how to use them, that's all that transfer over. At least there's "something"
Personally I'm against any DLC that breaks away from the main game. It's now a stand-alone game... like Freedom Cry, which was eventually sold like that... and I didn't like that either.
It's becoming more common and it's really frustrating the crap out of me. I already "bought" the DLC with season pass on XBone before I knew it would be like that... so I can't even vote with my dollars unless I wait for everything and pay full price... DUMB.
Maybe I'm weird but the biggest most important part of a game is your progression and your save. Seems they forgot about that part. I don't want multiple saves for the same game WTF. I wanted 1 Unified Game.
All that said, if you were gonna do it the other way... well they didn't totally mess it up.
