Any connection to FFXIV?

Just curious. I know or at least I think none of the NPC's are in any other FF games. I played FFXIV a long time ago so I can't remember, but is any of the towns or lands in from FFXV in FFXIV?

How abotu Cid the mechanic, is that the same Cid from earlier FF games?

Just asking is all. It's been a long time since I played a proper FF game. Having a good time though.

No, FF14 is in a completely different world, one that's been meteor'd once or twice.

EDIT: I realize that's misleading due to the meteor at Cauthess.

Every FF game exists in a universe unto itself. FFXIV sometimes features characters or bosses from other FF games, but they're usually explained as being part of that's world's fables/mythology etc and not as being the actual characters from the actual canons properly.

No two Cids are the same Cids either. There's generally always a Cid (one was even retconned into the FF1 remakes) but none of them are the same person.

Every FF is completely seperate except for those with the same roman numerals and numbers.
