It's not linked to actual gameplay time but to the days passed when you sleep.
Yea he does, time just passes slower. I did nothing but side quests and hunts until he called me.
Yea and that seriously sucks, just give it to me immediately, why do we have to wait at all?
But the number of times you sleep/rest before he calls does increase for some of them and it seems to vary a bit. It's not always do 1 hunt, rest, phone call. You can't just rest 10 days in a row doing nothing else, either. I've always done 1 or two hunts/quests each day, rest, repeat until he calls. Don't think it's ever taken more than 3 or 4 game-days or more than an hour, that way.
If the TC is hunting and sleeping etc. for many game days and it's not proc'ing, it's just a bug.
