Final Fantasy Turf effects a lie?
In the gameworks trailer for this game, in the part where it showcases the Turf effects, it shows the grass being manipulated and faltten by the movement of the player. I've yet to see this in this game. Was it a lie or is it only in a specific part of the map where this happens?

Turf effects work fine for me except my 970ti is too weak for it

The setting does work but the grass that appears when Turf effects is on is unmanipulated by the footsteps of the player. In the Gameworks trailer they showed how the player can affect the grass and manipulated it moving through it. Now that I think about it, the trailer also mention a couple of other Gameworks additions that aren't even mention in the video setting on the full release, like Nvidia Flow and HFTS (unless that's what shadowlibs is suppose to be?).

Isnt this related to geomapping? It think it needs to be on too.

Works perfectly everywhere for me, on a 1070. Big FPS drop though, 6 or 7 FPS loss, and not really worth it.

I have geomapping off and it works, although not as prominent as I thought: https://youtu.be/CrOQt5rfT8w
Does the regular grass move for you?

The grass does deform but can be quite unnoticeable in most places. It seems to deform the most in duscae as seen in the trailer.(I think it's slightly toned down still) Geomapping is a setting for terrain tessellation to give it more depth by tessellating the ground geometry, it has nothing to do with turf. Flow is only used for campfires sadly and shadow libs is HFTS but I think it might be only used for character self shadowing. The trailer never showed anything with those effects that isn't using them in the final game, but it might have overhyped them a bit given their weirdly limited use.

Works with green grass, which is very few in the first location.

If you roll through the grass it flattens, but it doesn't really move that much when you run through it.

People are reporting that the 4k assets option increases the quality of the turf physics, in addition to making foliage denser and some other stuff. You can enable this stuff without actually downloading the textures with an ini tweak: https://www.reddit.com/r/FFXV/comments/83521x/graphics_assets_option_is_not_just_for_4k_textures/

TurfEffect works but its been muted from what they showed in the video. HOWEVER, there's already a mod out there that greatly increases the grass deformation, even long time / permanent grass deformation as well as longer strains of grass. It does not cost any additional FPS. I've tested it myself.

You can check out and download that mod below.

Okay with the 4k Textures, Geomapping and Turf on, it seems to be working much better, although like GrimReaper said, it's been muted a bit from what we see in the trailer. I was expecting kinda what we see from the Nvidia Turf demo long ago (with the green cubes being thrown into long grass and seeing it's affect on it). Regardless, it helps with the atmosphere of the game and helps suck me into the world of FF XV. Thanks to all of you, I can live my Fantasy, Finally ;D.

Indeed. And with the TurfEffect mod, the grass deformation looks waaay better. It really feels like you're leaving an impact / interacting with the game world.
