Sound Issue with Steelseries arctis 7 headset (Cant change sound type....screeching sound...)
So, I know they're are a lot of threads about this, but nothing fixes mine. So I'm using steelseries arctis 7 headset, and im getting an awful screeching sound for game audio. The only option available to me is to turn on DTS Headphone surround sound 7.1, which does not fix anything. My PC gives no other options to change the sound type on this headset.

Is there anything I can do.. as the game is currently unplaying with a banshee screaming sound.

Thanks!

Fixed it...changing to the 2nd option in the sound settings "Steelseries Acrtis 7 game".

Hope this helps anyone stuck!
I also have the steelseries arctis 7 headset and i dont quite understand how to fix it D:
As someone who also owns a Steelseries that had this issue, there is only one fix for this as far as I know. Right click on your sound icon in your taskbar. Click Playback Devices. Make sure that you have Default Device and Default Communications Device set. Steelseries Game set to Default Device and Steelseries Chat set to Default Communications Device.

Hi, so i was having issues, this sorted it for me, i contacted the SteelSeries team via email and this was their reply. I hope this helps anyone with this issue

Try doing a clean reinstall of both SSE and your device drivers using the following steps.

Please note that this will delete any saved configures within SSE, so please save them to the cloud.

1) Download and install CCleaner (it's free): http://www.piriform.com/ccleaner/download/standard

2) Go to ‘Tools’ tab -> Uninstall
Find the SteelSeries Engine and uninstall it.

3) Go to the ‘Registry’ tab on the left side -> scan for issues -> fix selected issues

Next, we will need to uninstall the existing driver( if there is one) completely. To resolve this issue, please take the following steps:

1) Make sure your SteelSeries Engine is up to date. Install the latest version if you have not already. It's very important that the latest version of SteelSeries Engine is installed PRIOR to taking the next steps. Please find the latest version at: http://steelseries.com/downloads

2) Using the search functionality in Windows, search for "Device Manager" - click and open it
Note: If this does not work, search for "Control Panel" and navigate to Device Manager

3) Find the device in the device tree

4) Right click and select "Properties"
4a) If there is a second or multiple entries related to the device, you will need to repeat this process.

5) Click "Driver" on the top toolbar and select "Uninstall (Advanced)" at the bottom.

6) Ensure the checkbox is checked and uninstall the driver.

7) Unplug your device and reboot your computer.

8) Once this is done, replug the device and the driver will reinstall

The virtualized DTS surround sound feature may not play well with all games depending on if they support DTS or not, so you may want to disable this setting for specific games where these audio distortions can be heard.
Thank you solljak that solved it for me!

If none of these worked, try to see if u have disabled enhancements. Try unticking it and see if it works. That's how i fixed it
solljak you are a king! :lovebs:
You're ma hero solljak!
solljak you absolute legend
tried solljak's solution after about 1-2 hours of trying to find something to make it work and it didnt work... after a bit more lurking after having tried it i finally found a way to make it work...pressing the button on the transmitter and reconnect the headset to it and it worked like a charm, i can now finally hear from my headset again ^^;

I had this problem and the only solution that works for me is to switch the device from usb 3.0 to 2.0. Maybe it'll help someone.

When I saw this I genuinely thought this was not gonna work at all then swapped my transmitter and now I'm left with asking the question what is the difference from 3.0 to 2.0. Either way, this worked for me and I am thankful.
