Cant type character name or chocobo name

Im finishing my character for multi but uh i cant type anything, i can exit enter and backspace but cant type a name its quite strange anyone else having the same problem?

I am having same problem naming Chocobo (not tried multiplayer). I can delete characters (have named my Chocobo "Choc" by doing this) but it doesn't seem to register any keypresses other than delete for the name field. I can't seem to do it any way with a controller.

Yeah i was considering naming my multi Avatar Ava at one point i am very confused at this strangness but its only the first couple days out lol, hopefully there will be patches

When I went to name my chocobo it literally locked me into the naming screen where I couldn't do anything but look around and press a or b to make confirm/delete noises, yet no text other than the "name chocobo" menu (which was grayed out) showed up on screen. Had to actually alt+f4 out of the game because no other buttons did anything (tried keyboard too, was totally stuck). Still early days, I get it, but sort of a silly oversight for a game that I assume most will play using a controller. Haven't tried without it plugged in yet, will update if it works for me that way.

Rebooted the game without my controller plugged in and it did let me use the keyboard to name.

use steam big picture mode, is a work around till they patch the game.

Yea, they're right ^
I had the same issues and I saw it works if you open the game on Big Picture.
Just tried it, after many attempts at typing normally with the keyboard.

When you need to type the name, the BP keyboard will appear and you can type using your controller or your mouse. Hopefully they'll fix this bug so we won't need to do this anymore.

Clicking the big center button on my Xbox controller allowed me to access the input box for Chocobo name without exiting the game or using big picture mode.

I am trying to name my avatar but this steam big picture "workaround" isn't working for me can someone give instructions so I can verify that I'm doing it correctly. I just bought the game and this is a fresh install with 2 hours playtime as I write this so is there any other way or do I have to enter multiplayer with the name avatar?

That's super odd because the latest update supposedly fixed my mates problem with it, if its still happening the only way i can think of without going super saiyan on the damn files is by using a controller
