Hey guys is anyone else having audio problems just in this game?
When I launch this game the music is distorted and just sounds static but only in the game, everything else is fine D:

In game go to the sound settings and make sure spatial audio is turned off. This fixed it for me.

I'm having the screamer static audio issue, i'm using steelseries 800. can't seem to fix it.

edit: I got my problem fixed, i don't know how to really explain what i did, but there was something messed up with my driver/default audio playback, so i changed default audio. not really been an issue untill i played this game tho.

Try setting sound output to "DVD quality" (44100Hz, 16bit) in Windows sound settings.
Some games really don't like 48K (or higher) sound sampling rates.

Sorry for the thread necromancy, but it might help someone that's googling "ffxv scratchy distorted audio":

If your computer has mono output (say, a mac mini), use some headphones or speakers instead.

IK this is crazy old but I just had the same issue and fixed it by changing my equalizer to standard (it was on voice boost and I don’t remember doing that) If it's already on standard try changing it to something else! :D

I'm not sure if this was the same issue, but I was getting no sound at all on my bluetooth headset when it was plugged in to USB, and crappy telephone quality mono audio when it was wireless. The issue had to do with the Bluetooth codecs for voice calls (low quality, but simultaneous mic + headphones) vs. listening to music (higher quality audio, no microphone support) - sorry, I forgot the acronyms. I solved the issue by disabling the bluetooth microphone in the windows sound settings (I can still audio chat via USB) - apparently FFXV turned on the bluetooth mic & that "locked in" the low quality wireless audio mode.

Really easy fix for any steelseries users simply change your windows audio mixer settings (output) to game instead of chat.
