A Question Involving Ignis' Recipe Learning Bug
I am at the post game and trying to collect recipes and whatnot, there is one involving the ingredient called Cygillan Crab. Now I had some of them in my inventory, but I didn't have the recipe. I tried selling and buying from different merchants, but no luck that way either.

Has anyone encountered such thing?

Another thing, some of the ingredients' name are written in purple? What does that mean? Why are they colored in purple? Any significance?

The crab one I've always learned from the stall merchant in Lestallum. The guy nearest the dining tables of the market area, If you buy one from there and he still won't learn it, try selling them all (so you have 0), saving/reloading and trying again

The purple text when you're looking at the recipes via the Item List just means that's the ingredient you actually have highlighted/are checking (eg, you have it), while the white text = the other ingredients needed

Number 2 mod priority though. Ignis Cookbook. Hovering over an ingredient tells you what recipes it is involved in, street price, monster and location on map. And tells you where cooks/dishes are and if you've learned their recipes yet.

I envy the people that will be playing the "fixed" version of the game in a few months time.

Game already tells you what all recipes something is involved in ... if you've learned it. Having to learn them is the whole point, otherwise they may as well just give you all recipes from the get go and all you have to do is buy ingredients.

Most of them aren't even all that useful outside of the early chapters. You end up mostly using just a handful.

While i agree 10% of them are uselful, collecting them all in post game is just too tedious right now. You just kill new beasts, buy 1 of all igredients and try to remember which dishes you bought and which ones you have to.

With some recipes you can't just buy the ingredient to learn it and actually have to loot the item from an enemy or the environment. Not sure if Cygillian Crab is one of those or not

The one I found annoying to collect was the King Trout one, I think it was. That thing was kinda hard for me to catch, at the time.

Oh and as a solo/offline-Comrades player (no buff shop), getting Cid to RNG show up at the camp so his dish will show up in the main game took forrrrrever.

You might have to find the cookbook for it, are you sure Ignis is max level cooking? I know certain ingredients don't unlock their recipes until you buy a cookbook or level up.

Thanks for the replies guys, I think game has some problems at the moment. I remember collecting garlic near Saxham Outpost, but a recipe required me to sell all my garlic and pick it up from the farm again. At least now all I need is to catch some fish and learn some recipes related to them.

Same happened with Cleigne Darkshell too. Just annoying. Hope you have a smoother gameplay than mine.
