He'll call. I slept like 2 or 3 times and nothing from Cid...he ended up calling me after about 4 hours of me just playing the game.

I think they wanted to avoid people just sleeping until it's ready. Because that's dumb.

So the triggers are actual quests. Not sure which count and which don't...

I got this after completing 3 hunts I think, no quests, don't even think i had to sleep for him to call me.
I know this is not helpful for you but it should trigger on its own eventually.

Yeah, just sleeping wont help. When you sleep, the game tells you how much time actually passes. What youre doing is just resetting the sun

I did look up the requirements to get the weapon and it takes 3 quest or hunts plus 1 night rest for everybody who gets the weapon. It's not random so just farting around until he feels like he's ready is not a "feature". This is a common problem and is 100% a bug. If you don't have any solutions then don't comment on the thread with ideas that make no sense or have no way to be proven besides "it happened fixed itself so it must be intended".
