I absolutely hate Atissia...
Atissia is beautiful to look at, but by f*ck it's the most frustrating to navigate. I hate being there. I can't even find my way out of the f*cking thing again. Seriously p*ssing me off. I much rather be out in the desert where I can find s*it.

I agree bad design choice to make it like a maze.

Why bad design choice? Have you ever been in old towns? I live in one that's over 700 years old, and neighboring towns are even much older. They are a maze by growth (not by design), and if Atissia is as old or even older than Venice (that is obviously used as kind of core model), than it is completely understandable it is a complete maze. In fact - I would be very disapointed if it was not.

That's the dumbest thing I have ever heard. "A maze by growth"? Really? I have lived in old towns all of my life and they are based on nothing more nor less than common architecture. If they become a maze some how, it's because people that had no business being architects screwed things up.

Hey, if you want to defend the game, that's great because it's a great game, but don't BS people about how a town can so called become a maze.

The game is fantastic there is no doubt, but it was unnecessary to make Atissia frustrating to say the least. Not even Venice is that frustrating. Hell New York is more frustrating than Venice, because at least in Venice, it's routes are guided by water. It's easier to find your way around there than it is in the Bronx.

You can't move much in Altissia. It's pretty confined. Try looking at your map & memorize things. It looks like another version of Venice.

I'm sorry, but very old towns with combined waterway's and small alley's that are all inter-twined can be a maze. And it grows that way, because people ages ago where no real "architects" but merly people that wanted to make cut-off's and even "hidden" alley's to smuggle stuff. Don't say "I live in a old town, so you are wrong", because I also live in a old town and I assure you that the old city centers can be very confusing to navigate.

But you don't like it and that's OK. I personally liked to discover my way in Atissia, and after a while I knew my way around. For me it was a fun part to discover all those "nook and cranny's" that Atissia had, but each his/hers choice.

Thankfully there are not many quests there. It would be a bit better if we were able to swim instead of taking those silly gondolas (Yes, I know we can skip the ride).

But, even though I kind of liked Altissa.. they could have done so much more with it compared to the very short time we spend there.

In a civilized city, even like Venice, why would people swim in the waterway canals, that would look pretty silly, and I'm sure PRINCE Noctis wouldn't want to embarrass himself.

But I should say, everywhere should be accessible by foot, the boat ride should only have been made to shorten the trip and provide scenery.

I am sure the developers wanted to do that, but there is only so much you can do in 3 or 4 years. If the previous game (Final Fantasy Versus XIII) was not dropped and they had to start over, who knows how it would have been.

Maybe if we get the level designer it will be possible to "extend" the city. However - I think that level designer will be more of a landscape designer without city assets. It's far more complicated to design a city than a landscape (and thus the level designer for that kind of stuff also), so I have no very high hopes here. It's possible, but not likely.

Maybe the Lunafreya DLC will add something to that city, because it is possible a part of her story will take place in Atissia. But that's something we will find out when the DLC is released.

It's one of only two towns in the whole game . . .
other than gas stations and diners.

This has to be one of the best forums on Steam. Usually after I make a statement about something in a game, people jump all over me even though I am trying to show some constructive critcism. It's great to know that there are people out there to discuss things in a mature manner.

My issue with Altissia is that it´s way too literal on the Venice thing rather than using it as inspiration for a fantasy location.
And yes, it is confusing to walk in there.

Which are clones of each other on top of that.

Yeah I get that same feeling as well. It's like they tried to replicate Venice.

try to use gondola :satisfied:
altisia is nothing compare to sewer dungeon, in that dungeon i'm so confuse to find a key and spend almost 3-4 hours for clearing that dungeon.
