Have anyone play FFXV in 1080p and 1440p
With same graphics settings? Is the difference huge?

played both. GTX 1060. 1440p plays like crap. but 1080p with 120 resolution increase plays better for some odd reason. they're like the same thing. the engine just has an issue playing above 1080p. same can be said with most eastern games. 1080p has been their standard for optimization.

Hows the graphics? No different?

Are you a considering a 1440p monitor? Theres a little bit of a jump from 1080p, i'd say it's worth it except for the annoyance of 1080p content scaling to it.

I play in 2560x1080 with black bars for ultrawide on 1440p monitor instead though.

Is that the same with other games? Not much difference from 1080p to 1440p?

to my eyes it's crisper in detail for sure. but the jump isn't that much. it's a 25% increase in pixel detail. ....you may not notice the difference if you're gaming far away on a bigger screen.

Hmm im confused now.

Stay in 1080p and not spend any money
Upgrade to 1440p and spend $900 (monitor and GPU)

Also I noticed a lot of difference from 720p to 1080p. But I havent test 1440p yet. So im not sure

if you're talking about performance, on average a 3-4 fps performance hit is normal when jumping from 1080p to 1440p, on a GTX 1060. however In FFXV's case, the performance can take a 10-15fps hit at times. which leads me to believe there is an optimization issue still in place.

That's the reason 1080p is still the most popular format. It makes sense for developers to keep that as the "target" format, and all other formats as "add-on" to that target format. It's not that great for people that use higher formats, but it makes a lot of sense buisness-wise.

That said - While I personally are more than happy with my 24 inch 1080p screen, I can imagine that other people with 1440p or higher feel a bit "left in the cold".

If you're fine gaming in 1080p then stay with what you have. unless you want to enjoy FFXV's 4k movies. you can still down scale your pixel count on a 1080p display. (which is what i'm currently doing.)

Have you played in 720p? The jump from 720p to 1080p is huge for me since i have been gaming in 720p before.

Is the jump from 720p to 1080p is as big as 1080p to 1440p?
kWihz Apr 30, 2018 @ 1:17am
The jump from 720p to 1080p is a 2x leap. the jump from 1080p to 4k is a 2x leap. so a jump from 1080p to 1440p would be somewhere in between a .4 leap. 1440p is a unorthodox resolution. unsupported for TVs. but can be downscaled from 4k through a 1080p output.

---hope this helps, it's late for me. got to get some rest. later.

I've had a 1440p asus predator for about 2 years now and there's no going back. I find 1440p to be noticibly sharper. It's 4 X 720p which averages to about 70% more pixles than 1080p so if you decide to go 1440p be sure to have the horsepower as some games to take a hit.

really? in your case, i think its math issue instead of "optimization". 1080p has 2,073,600 pixels where 1440p has 3,686,400 pixels. That's a whopping 77% increase in pixels that your system needs to render. Assuming you are capped at 60fps, 15fps is a 25% hit on performance, that, to me, is still a dammned good price to pay for a 77% resolution increase.

This, is another big questions with tonnes of variables, apart from reso, what size is your monitor? what "settings" do you mean? medium preset vs highest preset can significantly impact quality on higher reso vs lower reso.

If you're doing 1080p on a 24-27" it doesnt makes much difference, but if you're doing 1080p on a 32", its horrendous. Afterall, there's only so much pixels your eyes can see.

Personally, i have 3 main rigs that a alternate around home, 4k being on a 50" TV at my hall, 1440p on 32" being my main gaming station, while 1080p on a 40" TV on my lounge.

With 4k pack installed, 100% scaling works absolutely well on 1440p and 4k with minor to no difference at higher scaling with the exception of 1080p. The 1080p has to have rendering upscale to at least 150% to eliminate the weird heavily aliased hair.

IMO the jump to 1440p or 4K in this game is pretty noticeable especially if you are using TAA. In fact I think most modern implementations of TAA look too blurry at 1080p but start to look very sharp when you move up towards 4K.
