Sadly we did not get to see some characters post time skip.
Can't understand your line about Prompto/Cindy.
The DLC Is cannon and happens mid story.
Nomura is part of the reason it took so long, but by no means THE main reason. This was due to the engine technologies (not just graphics, either) they were trying to develop to support their goal with FFXIII Versus/FFXV.
See my above statement. It is somewhat a mess though rushed isn't the correct word for it. The game was intended to be overwhelmingly larger than what we got but massive content had to be cut to meet their deadlines (earlier info from Tabata suggested potentially 10x larger, and it was originally supposed to even be 3x games when Nomura was in charge). Due to issues with Nomura constantly changing so much and restarting the project over in addition to the core problem of developing the right engine to support their intended game nearly all 10 years had no real development. The final game was actually, basically, made in a year and half. Sucks, but now that they have such impressive tools from Luminous studio that let them accomplish what they did with FFXV in a year and half hopefully we will avoid developement hell with the next FF entry.
You don't know what Prompto, Ignis and Gladio have been up to while you were in the crystal. That's kind of the point. Plot hole or not, the story revolves mostly around Noctis. Leaving some things unseen while he's in the crystal is reasonable. And when does Prompto ever lie in the game anyway? You're sort of assuming actions that would be completely out of character for Prompto.
The Cindy, Cid and Iris thing after the ten year skip is ♥♥♥♥♥♥♥♥, because you do see them. Play the comrades DLC. They're in Lestallum keeping the place alive, she isn't a daemon hunter or anything. She sells used clothes. Cor doesn't let her because of the dangers. Monica is also there. She cooks the food from the ingredients you gather on hunts. Noctis can't exactly put Ardyn on hold to visit long time friends. The world is in peril, and the settlements can fall at any moment, so Noctis makes his way to the Crown City as soon as he gathers Prompto, Gladio and Ignis.
And the world of ruin crap? The whole idea is to show how bleak things have become in Noct's absence because Ardyn, the founder king who was cast aside in favor of Noctis and now wants revenge on the Caelum family was in control of the throne, and releases daemons all over the world and blanketing it in eternal darkness to keep them roaming, putting everyone in danger just to ♥♥♥♥ with Noctis when he gets back and his friends. FFVI's version had a clown move a triad out of place and the world starts to die.
DLC is canon. It shows what happens in the respective character's absences. The only DLC which was not canon was the second ending to Episode Ignis, which clearly stated that it wasn't from the getgo.
The new game plus thing is reasonable. It doesn't change much, but to call the game ♥♥♥♥ in its current state is absolutely moronic.
But leaving Nomura to finish HIS game? No. The plot is fine in the current state. Every game will have a hole or two. If Nomura kept on with this game, you'd have a weird up and down story like the Kingdom Hearts series. Hajime Tabata is a legendary director. He worked on Crisis Core as a director, and that's arguably the most well recieved and most loved Final Fantasy title to date. He also worked on the other spin offs for FF7 excluding Advent Children.
I'm not quite sure if you paid attention to the story the game was trying to convey, or you're just writing this random essay for attention because all of your quarrels could've been solved with a quick search up or even playing some chapters again. Could be that you're a dumb dumb tho lol :)
But, yeah, the office building part, for over three hours- in a Final Fantasy game. Wow.
