Why does it feel like I do no damage?
I'll be 20-30 levels higher than a monster and all my damage feels like chip damage. I get better weapons and even use strength accessories but the damage never feels appropriate for my level. Sometimes I'll get lucky and my warp strike will hit for 9999 but it feels kinda low when even level 20 monsters have around 60k health.

Not to mention most lower level monsters will still take me out in 2-3 hits if they manage to hit me.

Are you using weapons those creatures are weak to? Are you blindsiding them and using techniques?
Furudo Apr 6, 2018 @ 12:58am
Yes. Still doesn't feel like much when enemies are health sponges.

Ascension Combat Tree? Stat-Tree? Teamwork Tree?

Defense?

Also, what clvl and enemies are we talking about, here? There are some enemies that have very high defense, for example, although that's usually the very high level optional bosses/mini-bosses.

most mobs you need blindside them inorder to do any real damage to them; doing this also puts mob in vunnerable(ms) state when this happens everyone should be beating said mob with everthing you got at once(thats when the real damage happens) but if you using the wrong weapon on said mob then that damage wont be as great then. errr....i hate the cat ones they get me badly even at lv100...but i finally figure out shield works great against them.

because you are not using raganrok and spamming warp strikes , ragnarok is the strongets weapon in the game becasue of that i its really strange why people consier ultima weapn superior , i havent aquired all weapons yet , but i doubt i will be more impressed with a weapon other than Ragnarok

I'm guessing you need to take a look at your ascension tree. There are stato boosts and also combat technique boosts. Make sure you have blink too.

Its because of the sound effects and lack of finisher animations

Check your your stats and weapons, I had the Durandal equipped and while its stronger than Ragnarok, I was doing crap damage since I wasn't fighting daemons
Yeah solid output in this game is all about breaking appendages and using correct equipment, even if it seems pointless to break say, a horn or tail, doing so can not only lower enemy stats but put them into vunerable state (which is where the dams are really done) there are no exceptions to this method, even Omega has broken/vulnerable states, even mister turtle does too, infact a certain megaboss (is she considered that?) kind of has a tutorial on how to link strike a vulnerable target.

Things to also keep in mind:

Doing certain amounts of damage compared to enemy HP can stun/stagger them (which makes them easier/faster/safer to put down)

All enemies have breakable appendages, even bosses, EVEN megabosses, if the nut seems too hard to crack, attack from different directions till they "crack" like said nuts (oh that satisfying break noise) ((Do also note bosses can recover their break points, allowing multiple breaks))
[Example: Catoblepas - all 4 hooves can be broken, face can be broken, body can be broken]
(Some breaks impose -ATK/-MAG, some -DEF/-SPIRIT, these effects can also stack across parts)

Some gear have hidden effects on them, from elemental damage to literal hidden skills, even if gear seems weak read their descrptions to see if they're "special"
[Example: Durandal, effective against Daemons because it has a hidden element attached to its attacks "Holy" but probably hurts your damage against non-Daemons]
So make sure to check your gear, you may be unintentionally nerfing yourself against a target.
