Japanese Dub or English Dub?
Clearly i can't speak Japanese... But i played Witcher 3 with Polish voice over + English Subtitle, it was a great experience...

I never ever played FF before (except Chrono Trigger back then in PS1), should i use normal English voice or Japanese voice?

If I have a choice, I usually go for the original intended voices for movies and games. For instance, I would never watch a dub of a pixar movie in my own language, as it misses out on a lot of nuances that comes with the original English voice overs.

But after watching Kingsglaive I was going to go with English for Final Fantasy 15. Even though I found some of the voice overs in that movie to be fairly bad and some of the dialogue did not really fit well with English. But it was pretty much made for English.

But then I played the demo for FF15 and it is just not possible for me to play with the English voices as I would never be able to take the story seriously. Some of the voice actors are fine, like Noctis, Promto and Cid. But some come across as parodies to me, which just makes the whole thing silly.

For instance, the voice for Ignis sounds like someone trying to play a very posh cliche british butler. It sounds so forced to me, and I just can't take him seriously. And his voice is way too deep for his face, which is a problem with Gladiolus too. Their voices just does not fit how their characters look. Cindy also sounded like a parody to me, just over the top cliche American accent that makes it really hard to take it seriously. But probably the worst voice I heard in the demo was that reporter guy at the end, his voice and accent was so wrong for his face it made me burst out laughing.

So I tried playing with the Japanese voices and even though there are some NPCs that still does not really match their voice as the game have a lot of western looking NPCs. But it is not as bad as the inconsistency with the English voice overs. And all the main characters had voices that truly matched their look, which is way more important to me.

I prefer Japanese voices when I watch anime too, and I have a reason for that besides it being the original language it was inteded for. But from what I have gathered from watching a lot of anime and even Japanese live action shows. Is that they have a very different way of expressing themselves, and not just with spoken language, but body language and many other small nuances that just makes English incompatible with many Japanese animes.

Watch a few videos on both on youtube to see which you prefer.

For me if the voice acting is good enough and/or bearable I'll stick with dubbing. If it is bad I'll go for subtitles of the JP voice acting is much better. So far I wouldn't say the voice acting in this is bad though there's been better in other games, but it seems standard for FF. Zodiac Age had some rather cringeworthy VA for me and same for FF10 (looking at you Tidus).

I think people who would rather listen Japanese over voice dubs that they can understand, need medical help.. You'd seriously rather listen to another language that you can't understand? Like, WTF is wrong with your brain? Somehow someone speaking gibberish is better than someone speaking a language you understand? I am being purely objective here. This is some of the dumbest ♥♥♥♥ I have read in a while. Must be in the life of a weeaboo/hipster..

german dub is just way better than all of them to me

Oh, the sound quality is just better in Japanese, even though I have no f***ing clue what they are saying.

Nex, that mostly the matter of quality of voice dub. I'd rather listen to professional Japanese and read the subtitles (I don't understand anything in Japanese) than to some bums voicing English in first try for one cheeseburger.

No idea about the voices in this game, just trying to justify the choice.

Overall, there no reason to claim that such people have to "seek mental help". To each their own, and thinking otherwise and sticking your nose in others' business — well, that's when the one needs to "Seek mental help"

How would you even know the Japanese is good, if you don't even understand the language? It just sounds like you are a delusional hipster. Make all the excuses you want.

You'd rather listen to some voice you can not understand over someone you can understand because you don't approve of the voice? It isn't a f***ing song.. Goood god.. This is why the planet has gone to ♥♥♥♥..
