GTX 1080: best settings
Hi,
after a lot of tests, here are my conclusions about what is the best settings to play with a gtx 1080, assuming you're not CPU limited of course.

This is depending of your display resolution and your choice between graphic fidelity and smoothness. Tested with Nvidia display drvers on date.
First, set TRAM to high whatever your display resolution is.

If you play 1080p:
Best setting IMO is to put all to max, excepted shadows to "high" and "geomapping" to off. Then you can set resolution to 150% if you are ok to play a 50-60 fps experience with rare 45 fps drops. Or set it to 125 for constant 60 fps.

If you play 4k, same settings, resolution to 100% for 30fps, 75% to 50-60 fps with rare drops to 45. 50% for constant 60 FPS but then i would recommend 1080p @ 125% since it's sharper.

If you play 1440p, this game really seems to be optimized for you (gtx 1080 and 1440p display owners) You can just set it ultra @ 100% resolution and enjoy it.

As a 4k TV owner my personnal choice goes to 4k@75% (or 1080p@150% for 1080p owners, same amout of pixels)
I can't clearly not achieve a constant 60 fps, but the difference between 1080p@125% and 1080p@150%/4k@75% is pretty huge, at least on a 4k TV.
And for that kind of game, that'll play with a gamepad, even if i am a "master race player" i can handle that sort of framerate^^ (almost always above 55, never below 45)

Notes:
-I have an issue, my screen have green flickering, i just have to press alt+enter 2 times to go windowed mod and fullscreen again to get rid of it.
-No AA or FXAA = absolutely huge aliasing even in 4k... So huge that right now TAA seems a mandatory even if it's a bit blurry especially on 1080p@100%.
I still have to test to turn off ingame AA and let nvidia 3d settings handle AA, maybe we can find a better compromise

Rip im playing at 810p low settings. Sitting 20 feet from my screen so I don't have to see the blurriness

^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^

I personally had to enable V-Sync in order to make the FPS more stable and remove screen-tear. I also have disabled TurfEffects. I prefer the game without it and it gives me like 5 extra frames.
Shadowlibs also tends to not be noticeable unless you really look deep into the details. So anyone ♥♥♥♥ about frames can also turn that off.

I really enjoy the turf effect, the spacing, placement and physics of grass seems really more natural IMO, and strangely for me the impact is not so big, more like 2 frames. I'll gain 5 frames when i disable it but a few seconds later even without moving my framerate will go down to almost where it was with turf on, but yes that's a matter of choice and for those who prefer without it is a fps gain.
Shadowlibs is not noticeable visually or in term of performance for what i saw until now, maybe only noticeable for close-ups during cutscenes.

And yes i didn't mention Vsync but i have it too, actually i enable it in nvidia 3d settings, just "on", no "adaptative", and 1 frame render.

I think... my GTX 650 Ti 2Go is... well... obsolete ? I buy this game but i know i won't play it before a long time when GCs will come back to a "normal price". But i'll try just for fun to see how bad it will be with my actual GC. xD

WTF does Geomapping even do

I've got it set to maximum at 1080p except Turfworks off since that seems to take 20 fps away. I'd be happy to turn down shadows to high if that means I can play at 125% res scale but I don't want to turn off Geomapping if it actually makes a noticeable difference.

(Ryzen 7 1700 @ 3.8 Ghz and GTX 1080)

Geomapping is "ground tesselation", you can look at the ground and set/unset it to see the effect, honestly IMO it's noticeable but only if you stare at it.

20fps away with turfworks on? That's really strange, that feature seems to not affect us the same way, are your drivers up to date?

Yep, latest drivers. Maybe Turfworks hates Ryzen?

Seems strange since it's a nvidia features the GPU should fully handle it, i'll try to test the impact again in the most grassy place i find.

totally agree, but then again since building my rig (16 months ago) its been obvious that 4k even with Ti is not realistically within reach yet. 60fps +, g-sync etc. etc. 2k is the sweet spot for the current gen GPU SKU's.

Yeah, I'm hoping I can save up enough money by the start of next year for a 7nm Ryzen, "2080 ti," and a 4K monitor

hnggghhhh

For me it's 1080p with everything maxed (shadows at high rather than highest - can't tell the difference in IQ anyhow) and all NV options enabled (hair, turf, VXAO, shadowlibs etc...) @1080p 100% scaling. Rock solid 60FPS everywhere. That move from highest to high shadows made all the difference (stopped the drops to low 50's and the occasional high 40's I had in big towns and areas with lots of grass and hairy animals). I'm also using the Special K mod from Kaldaien that you can find in the forums here (D/L from github). Game looks astounding when you can run all the special features at a constant 60fps (not worried about anything higher, as I'm using a big HDTV for my display and it's limited to 60Hz - can't wait for those big 50"+ sets with HDR and Gsync from nVidia later this year).

6700K @4.79GHz (load temps in the mid 50's at 1.42Vcore)
EK Supremacy EVO CPU Water Block
GTX 1080 at 2.14GHz w/EK full coverage water block and backplate (load temp 39C)
16GB GSkill DDR 3400Mhz with tight timings
Samsung 950 Pro 512GB PCIe x4 M.2 Ultra HDD for system and games
6TB mechanical HDD for storage

turfeffects tanks my fps, even with latest drivers. still get occasional fps drops to about 45 with everything else on and at max at 1080p.
i have a gtx 1080, 4790k, 16gb of ram, windows 10, and the game's on an ssd.
