How to open menu/inventory with Controller not using Keyboard? What button to press?
So I am doing the training, I am at the part where you have to pick a Fire Magic spell from your Inventory. On the Keyboard you press "TAB" But using Controller what Button are you supposed to press to open the Inventory?

It don't make sense I can fully play with controller but need Keyboard to open Item Inventory. Anyone know what must I do?

Thanks fellas.

PS: I am using an Off brand Controller it works great just can't open inventory with any of the buttons.

On a DualShock I can bring it up by pushing down the right-side joystick.

It should be whatever your "Start" or "Back"/"Select" button is. If it is a DirectInput controller (an older PC Gamepad) you might want to go into Steam and turn on the Other Controller support and explicitly map the buttons. This will make the controller appear as an Xbox Controller to the game and ensuer the buttons are mapping in a way that matches the prompts on screen (as not all DirectInput Gamepads report the buttons in the same order).

on a DS4 its the big button of the touch pad, just press it

so from everyones response I suppose the general consensus is to hit each button one at a time until something works lol

Hey, had this same issue! I actually went into the controller settings in Big picture and bound "tab" to my select button. No more issues!

I'm really glad that this game supports so many controllers out-of-the-box but it's also a bit confusing since they all work a little differently lol

Ahhh Thanks guys found the solution. I have an $8 Controller I won in an eBay auction "EasySMX" Its pretty decent, top of its class for the value. I managed to configure it so it would be recognized on Steam, which Steam wasn't picking up on before.

So now the "Back" Button opens the Menu button. Weird because it works great on Skyrim.

Had to uncheck Xbox 360 Controller and use only Generic Controller Option. Fixed!

Cheers!
