Game demo crash after playing it for 5 minutes
The demo crashes after 5 minutes of play. My hardware requirements are widely met, i7 6700k processor, Nvidia GeForce GTX 1080, 16 GB Ram, lastest nvidia drivers. The frame rate is in fact stable at 60 fps with all the graphic options at maximum, at 1080p. Any clue about this? Does anyone else have the same problem?

same boat.

towards the end of stand by me, pushing car. im betwixt minimum & recommended spec

also have to hit the start menu icon twice before it runs. first time it just doesnt run.

not using the nvidia optimized settings. probly should.

Not confirmed but people think it's a memory leak? Basically no matter what your settings the game will keep trying to use up all your RAM and depending on your settings it will happen at a faster or slower rate. I'm not sure if this is the case but it's the only explanation I can think of why people with GTX1080's and people with integrated GPUs experience the same issue.

I really, really, REALLY hope they find a way to patch this.

Play with the TRAM setting. Normally having this too high will just result in stuttering once your VRAM or RAM reached capacity, but some seem to have the game crash instead.

GFE "optimisations" are often just a waste of time. It's doing nothing but adjusting the same settings you could for you.

Indeed. Never before has a game saturated both my VRAM and RAM at once :happymeat:

do you have any super special stuff turned on? (hairworks, turfworks, etc.) and do you have your vsync on or off? Hairworks and turfworks are screwy like always and in-game vsync was giving a bunch of people issues. If it's none of that stuff than probably just need to experiment, luckily you have a demo in which to do so lol

Some suggestions:

Verify the game in Steam to ensure there are no missing or corrupt files.

The demo doesn't seem to come with redistributable files, try to get the latest DXSETUP, vcredist &/or physX.

There is also a new nvidia driver specifically for this demo.

Perhaps adjust or reset any overclocks

I think y'all are missing the point that they get 60fps up until the crash. If the game runs well up until the crash then surely that's a problem with the port and the game, not "oh just turn down these settings."

A port would be the game you're currently playing, this game was made for PC.... sort of, you can never tell with SE plus the demo is meant to figure out these issues which is why we work on them XD

All the things we're listing would help with instabilities, he could be at 200FPS before the crash, doesn't matter.

I also don't believe there is any memory leak you mention above. I even left the demo running on top while resting a few hours, came back & played awhile, it was performing fine. Then Alt-Tabbed it for a few hours while I was busy, brought it back up & it still was still working great..

Crashing can occur on any software or OS without any telling symptoms beforehand.

Well I don't know how else you would get people with perfectly functioning performance having frequent crashes then. One person said it might be hard drive RPM but since OP's frame rate was stable without stuttering...I don't know. Definitely seems like something they should patch.

I lowered the TRAM setting from Highest to Hight and had no other crash experiences. Still, it's far from normal to have such crashes and to be obbligated to lower the settings to prevent them.

same 102% usage Vram and crash. 980
