My understanding of the mod "tools" that were just released.
From what I can tell, all they are good for is adding data to 3d models that you made on your own from SCRATCH, and then uploading them to the workshop. To my knowledge, they do NOT include in-game vanilla assets for you to work with. Meaning I have to rely on people who used unauthorized, third party tools to get the original models. If you were hoping for Elder Scrolls-style mod tools, you are going to be very disappointed.

I was hoping to do something as simple as replacing vanilla Noctis with vanilla Gentiana. No texture mods or anything like that. Just in-game, pre-rigged assets replacing in-game pre-rigged assets. Can't do it.

Then, they felt the need to have a points cap on any weapon that you create with the tools. 100 points in total. Meaning you can't make a just-for-fun god weapon for your single player experience.

And then they REALLY want you to use the workshop, but we all know the real reason they want to do that is to control which mods exist and which dont. God forbid half naked Cindy has a nip slip.

Mod tools can be found here:

So I can´t export Noctis to a 3D modeler, change his body to get him custom clothes and import back to the tools?
What exactly can we do with this? Import Moogles and Cactuars? :/

Moogles and cactuars for days son

They don't even include the vanilla assets? How on earth are you supposed to model a new outfit if you can't even attach it to the character wearing them? Oh boy, that sucks :steamfacepalm:

it in \SteamLibrary\steamapps\common\FFXVModOrganizer\sample

Where is the file for the royal outfit for Noctis? Where is the tundra outfit for Prompto? I ask because they let you make your own things from scratch, but they do not give you access to everything. What if I just wanted to make a slight change to an existing outfit? For the time being, we have to use the Special K tool to change textures, and that's something I was expecting the mod organizer to allow us to do.

Does the Special K tool work with Windows 7? I keep trying to install it, and it acts like it installs, but it doesn't work in-game etc....

I honestly don't know. I haven't used Windows 7 in several years, but installation is really as simple as dumping the Special K files in the FFXV game directory.

I enjoyed the game and don't want to criticize on a high lvl, but why should you mod weapons and customise dresses when you have nothing exciting to do or fight in the endgame ?
Exactly. That's why I've always wanted a PvP 1v1 mode when they announced mod support for this game.

Thank you! I was able to build my sword mod using one of the sample weapon models.

I just tried it with a sample and that didn't work either. I'm gonna uninstall and then try reinstalling
Did you ever fix the ouput error i've still been stuck on it.

Great, so they went for the "lets be extremely carefull" approach, what basically killed their chances of a big mod community around this game considering the extreme limitations.
Heck can I even make new spells with this?

Nope. You absolutely cannot make new spells with this. All you can do is 1: Import a new 3d model that replaces one of the characters. 2: Import a 3d model that functions as a new outfit. You can add stats to it, but with a 100 point overall limit (mostly worthless as a stat booster). Or 3. Add weapons with a 100 point overall limit. THAT'S IT.

At this time, only weapons seem to work, as there is only ONE correct setting for fully animated character models and nobody has seemed to figure it out yet.

So its a overcomplex weapon and character skin maker?
Ugh really SE, I had low expectations, and this goes even lower...

Yeah, I had LOTS of plans for modding. I can't figure out how to do it with Blender and I really don't want to have to pay for more advanced tools. I was hoping modding would be like Skyrim, or at LEAST like GTAV, where I have lots of experience. I had a whole new game mode I wanted to make, but it looks like they are giving us nothing to work with. Something that surprised me was the stats cap. They are worried we will break the game experience or something, and that's a problem.

That means there will never be a good mod that unlocks the imperial continent, or I might not be able to create the business mod I wanted where you make lots of money. I am beyond disappointed.

Same, Ive been typing about hundreds of pages of documentation and altering pictures for the purpose of trying to save/memorize the idea's for mods and send it to SE/post it on their forum in the hope they could update the game in that way themselves.

Considering the tool, I need to abandon the hope of being able to do this myself and pray that when I post this entire bundle of idea's that they will consider, even just read it so it can get added to the game so that this game can get to its full potential rather then its half finished stage.
