Disable Chocobo music?
Is there any way to disable the music while riding a chocobo? The music gets old really quickly. I was curious if anyone knew if there was an option to disable this mount music. Thanks!

Yes, there is. You can download this mod https://www.nexusmods.com/finalfantasy15/mods/40?tab=files and use a blank 34 kbyte file of it.
Rename this blank file to the 2 chocobo sound files "bgm_chocobo.win.mab" and "bgm_chocobo_multi.win.mab" under steamapps\common\FINAL FANTASY XV\datas\sound\resources\20001music2\jp
Maybe there is an easier way, but this worked for me.

Great! Thank you for your helpful response! I've been searching for days trying to find an option, but I never could find anything. This is great.

You don't need a mod. You just need to purchase the "mp3 player" from your car (available pretty early on). While riding a chocobo or walking in general, hold the L2 button (or its equivalent) then press up to start the player.

The problem is that I don't really like the music from the MP3 player. I'd rather riding the chocobo have a similar effect to walking. Or else less obnoxious music. I appreciate the advice, though

Sorry for the slight necro, but I came across this after searching how to do this very thing. I'm a little confused on what exactly I need to do to make KalElRedK's solution work. I tried taking the file named "bgm_blank_1sec.win.mab" (which is a 34kb file) and copying it into my game music folder with the names of the chocobo music files, but this played nothing at all, and when I got off the chocobo, even the regular environment music would not play. When you say "use a blank 34 kbyte file of it." are you talking about just editing the chocobo music file to delete everything in it? Or is there another blank file I should be using to rename into the chocobo files? Thanks for the help.

So when you copy the 34kp file under the file name of the chocobo music, that completely makes the music stop while riding the chocobo altogether, which I also didn't like. I didn't like there being just silence while riding. What I ended up doing was replacing the chocobo music with a different song instead of making it silent. I found a mod entitled "Valse di Fantastica in Altissia" on nexus mods and used those files. I like the song Valse di Fantastica, and it's played so rarely in the game that it felt like a good fit for the Chocobo riding. Google the song and take a listen to see if you'd like it as chocobo music. Here's what to do if you like this song as chocobo music:

*before modifying these files, I would recommend backing them up so you can put it back if you don't like it*

1. Go to Nexus Mods and download "Valse di Fantastica in Altissia"
2. Once downloaded, rename "bgm_altissia_magi.win.mab" to "bgm_chocobo.win.mab"
3. Rename "bgm_altissia_water.win.mab" to "bgm_chocobo_multi.win.mab"
4. Copy the new "bgm_chocobo.win.mab" and "bgm_chocobo_multi.win.mab" to steamapps\common\FINAL FANTASY XV\datas\sound\resources\20001music2\jp and replace the existing files
5. Launch the game and enjoy Valse di Fantastica while riding Chocobo

Hope this helps! It's what I ended up liking the best. You can always use a different song if you like, but I had such a hard time figuring out how to find this particular song that I ended up downloading the mod instead of just finding it in the game's files. Anyway, best of luck!

I did manage to disable the chocobo music (that was annoying at some point, because without pause and repetitive).
What I did is quite simple :
1. Make a copy of bgm_chocobo.win.mab & bgm_chocobo_multi.win.mab on a folder if you want to revert or something goes wrong.
2. Open Notepad (or your text editor) and save as the file onece with bgm_chocobo.win.mab name and once with bgm_chocobo_multi.win.mab name. Make sure extension is written, not to have txt as extension like bgm_chocobo_multi.win.mab.txt.
3. Overwrite those 2 files in FFXV-Main-Folder\datas\sound\resources\20001music2\jp

Silence while riding, so you can analyze the surroundings better !
