Confusion about the Phantom Ruby.
In Sonic Mania it's found by Eggman.
But in Sonic Forces it was made by Eggman.
Which one is it?

I'm confused.

The comics reveal that the one in Mania ended up in Forces' world, Eggman found it, and then made replica prototypes. Infinite's is the final version of Eggman's experiments, but it's left ambiguous what happened to the original Phantom Ruby.

maybe he used the original one to power his death egg robot ?

Yeah, that's what I've seen many speculate. It WOULD explain why Classic Sonic then has to leave, for one thing.

The only issue with the theory above is that based on pictures we've seen of Sonic Mania plus, the original Phantom Ruby ends up back in Mania's time, where Heavy Magician is seen in possession of it. Unless that too is somehow another copy. On a side note I still hope we get an update to Forces with either a playable section or even just a cutscene, showing that the Infinite you fight in the third Infinite boss was actually an illusion that fled before dispersing to trick the heroes into thinking he was defeated, when the real Infinite is still alive and well but in hiding.

Actually just in general I wish they had done more manipulation with the ruby. Like they could manipulate Sonic when he's captured to make him think they've won and finally defeated Eggman so he doesn't want to leave the Death Egg and you have to fight him. Or while the avatar is away make an illusion of him/her that sabotages some important resistance operation so then the avatar is no longer trusted and has to tag along with Tails and Classic Sonic. There was so much more that could have been done.

There was a point In the Shadow DLC where Eggman said, "At least the analysis of the stone was completed yesterday..." Could that mean that Eggman found the original ruby and therefore analyzed it?

Honestly, I wish they would have done something more with the null space area.
Instead of 20 ♥♥♥♥♥♥♥ SECONDS UNTIL THEY BOOST OUT OF THERE.

The phantom ruby is just a phantom pain in the a55. Finding it is one thing, but it begs to question how they explain it. "Ohh! Eggman's scanners picked up some anomoly WHILE he was scouring for the master emerald in Sonic 3/S&K."
I don't know, I feel some measure of annoyance because it almost comes off as a reboot.. multiverse stuff..
