Beat stage 21 within 90 seconds
Holy crap this one is tight on time! The best I can get is 1:30.33. Does anyone else find this one frustrating. Also trying to beat the classic Sonic stages with the speed run stuff is excruciatingly painful.

go on Left rail on the first section and get all the handles on the start of the level. it may save you at least 10 seconds. the last section can be faster if you do the red ring path, but i think it is not worth it. it is all on pratice, took me almost 200 tries to get it right :)

All the classic sonic stages are a pain to try and beat in the speed running parts. I mainly used this video. https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=973HC0MLMX0

I use that method, but I feel like where I am losing time is the sections where you get trapped by waterfalls and have to physically wait until it's done. I think it's not worth it either, just trying to do completionist stuff. The last ones seem to be really tight in the time.

If you're talking about the Modern Chemical Plant stage...there are upper routes and fast routes.
This is something not a lot of people realize, but you can slide under those small gaps to find shortcuts and alternate routes where you don't deal with the liquid waterfalls because you're above them.
I have 100% gotten all the Red Rings, Number Rings, and Moon Rings.
Beating the missions gets you more gear for your Custom Character.

And with the Classic Sonic stages, try going through them at normal speed and explore a bit. Once you've found a route that seems to have a lot of flat architecture, use those sections to Drop Dash.

I've managed to get through Stage 3 (Ghost Town) in under 45 seconds as of now with the Drop Dash and knowing the fastest route to take. (Also if you go through a dash panel without a Drop Dash or a rolling momentum, you will lose all speed. Keep that in mind.)

The main problem with the classic sonic stages is his wonky physics. It makes everything so much harder. I finally got the one I was stuck on by using this video. That boost into the flagpole was exactly the time saver I needed. https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=GtLa9soCsjw

I get that there are alternate paths as I am getting all the rings and stuff as well. I just feel like they could have extended the time by at least 5 seconds to make it more bearable. This stage is super tight on the time. If anyone else is having problems with these, I highly recommend looking up vids from the first guy I posted and other speed run vids for some different strats.

I feel that this stage had a lot of potential in one particular area: the handles you can grab onto in the outside section, are connected to a rail you can grind on. Like Kira Von Black said, take the left rail. But then after bouncing off the spring if you properly aim and time a boost you can get onto the rail above the handle. Unfortunately you can't actually get anywhere different from here, that's where they could have done something really cool. But you can use the boost-flight thing to get to the part where the helix-shaped track is, but if you manage to land on it, it won't do the automated sequence and you will have free movement control. Just a weird little tidbit from my obsessive speedrunning of this level :steamhappy:
