How do SOS missions show up exactly?

They are the last challenges I need to do.

They seem to show up after you finish about three levels

You don't have to finish a level (you can quit) or you can play around in OC creator as well.

I think you can also open and close the Mission menu repeatedly to help them show up, but I'd have to double check. I have seen them appear upon closing the Mission menu, though.

I can never get SOS missions to show up, it's the asbolute last thing I need to do and it's getting really annoying.

For me, they just show up randomly from time to time whenever I load the map, though only when Steam is online and the game is able to connect to the Internet, mind you (probably because all 3 types use other players' Avatars).

i know its a bit late but it may help somebody , to unlock sos missions you have to play first with a rental avatar in one stage

I've never used a rental avatar ever and I've 100%'d the game.
