Is this game worth a buy?
Im asking if i should get this game.

I really like sonic, enjoyed mania and generations.

But with a 40 dollar price tag i wonder if i should get this.

Like how long is it about? And how good is the gameplay?

My first time took me 3.5h,including Episode Shadow.
Gameplay is good in my opinion. Classic how has rollig physics (and those who say he has bad physics can't roll) so he's better, but Modern is a bit backwards compared to Generations thanks to lack of drift and double jump instead for air dash. But OC is pure joy to play, especially when they are paired with Sonic, Heroes-style.
So I sat it's good and you should try if you like Generations.

The website called Bundlestars/Fanatical (google it) has it on sale I think. You can definately get it cheaper then $40. I am on my way to 100% it soon.

Around 3 and a half hours. Above average replayability.
Level design is bad. Music is stellar. Physics are quite janky. Gameplay is good. For controls....find out of yourself. Avatar customization is quite alright and a great addition to the game.
$40 is worth the price if you're a fan of recent titles in the Sonic series in general or wait until a potential sale later on for cheap.

Thanks for your opinions. I think what i might do is buy it and play the game for around an hour, and if i dont like it ill make sure to time myself so i can refund it later.

I now have an idea of what im getting in to.

it is worth it... but you gotta need to make it work to be worth it. thankfully they are working on a patch on this moment, so... yeah... it won't be long.

It is VERY worth it if you are into replaying levels for objectives, and other collectibles. Do your self a favor and read the comics online before playing the story though. It isn’t necessary but it helps

This. If you are one of those people that worked on S-ranking (A-ranking in older games) every level and got all the Red Star Rings/Collectibles in every other 3D Sonic game, you'll easily get your money's worth out of this one. Personally I found it a much more fun and enjoyable experience than Lost World (yuck), but like many it's not quite as good as Generations or Colours.

However, if you are just interested in playing through the story and DLC once or twice, then never going back, you'd be better off waiting until it's cheaper probably, as there's not alot there for people who are just interested in a single playthrough.

There are much better games out there for 40 dollars. Sonic Generations is a bigger game for cheaper and has more replay value in my experience.

No

As a modern Sonic title, I think there are a number of improvements from the prior Lost World and even Generations to a certain degree:

The graphics are solid and overall, look great. This may be the most visually appealing Sonic game I've ever played. Ditto for the sounds as everything from the effects to the soundtrack are pretty top notch.

The control is a mixed bag, but mostly borders on good. The player character (modern/classic Sonic or player created) still has some weight problems, but they are no where near as pronounced as they were in Lost World. This is particularly true on the 2D perspective levels where you no longer sink like a rock for apparently no reason.

The overarching story is pretty intriguing and, again, goes a bit above and beyond what's typical for modern Sonic games. The concept of Sonic being "defeated" and Eggman taking over the overwhelming majority of the world at the start is fairly original and provides a decent backdrop for the player created character.

Performance and stability have been solid for me so far. I'm running on an Alienware Alpha R1 (i7 CPU, 16GB RAM, SSD) and have the game set at 1080p with the High preset getting a locked 30fps. If I drop the resolution down to 1600x900, I'll get 60fps almost everywhere. If you're running an AMD CPU though you'll want to check compatibility, specifically to affirm that your processor supports the SSE 4.1 instruction set as currently, the game will crash without it.

Having played most of the contemporary Sonic games, I think Forces is one of the better entries especially compared to Lost World. I understand that with modern Sonic comes a *lot* of criticism from the so-called fan base. If you're still undecided, your best bet would be to watch a "Let's Play" or similar of the first 5-10 minutes of the game. That should provide all that you need to make your decision. Also, the Steam refund policy makes trying this game out for yourself a pretty low-risk affair.
