Can you not name your OC or am I stupid?

I'm playing the Switch version, but I assume the PC version would be the same.

When I created my Avatar character, it never gave me the option to enter a name, but when I select "Rental Avatar" on the mission selection it has a whole heap of characters with names.

Dunno if I missed the option and now can't change it or what. Not that it really matters, because Rakehell would probably be censored anyway.

The names you see are the usernames of the players (nintend id or steam username). The avatar name is always "rookie" due to voice acting I guess.

sadly you cant name your OC , would have been a cool feature ( even if the name would never get mentioned ( like Tidus' in FFX)

Well, 'Rookie' is a nickname and/or title, as mentioned at some points later on in the game, alongside it being depicted in lowercase as just 'rookie', rather than 'Rookie', which it'd be if it was their actual name.
The Avatar's name just goes without mention for the player to decide.
