Hyades Rim mod.
I’ve started modding the game now that I’ve beaten it too many times to count. The Hyades Rim mod seems great so far but it includes many additional mech variants. The ones with multiple “infernos” in place of the SRM/LRMs are infuriating. How the hell is any mech supposed to deal with “+145” heat? I think it’s a mistake with the way infernos have been implemented. I had to go through the .json file and delete all variants that had infernos. Anyone else struggling when they go up against Bombardiers with 8 infernos? WTF?!?

Don't get hit.

And there are 4 of them. 8 assaults, with the rest being pillagers. I tried it with spiders, assassins, and Kintaros and once I got hit, even alittle, my mech would shutdown and then be destroyed from the inside out with all of the structural damage.

Looks like you seem to think that "not getting hit" is only high evasion.

Keep them at a distance so they are out of range and pick them off. Or use called shots strategically to destroy mechs with infernos or at least the locations with them.

The map was mountainous and all of them were firing indirectly. I tried staying out of range and drawing them over the hill. They fried my spotter. I tried luring them away to the other rim, the fried my jack rabbit. I tried to out indirect LRM them, I used ECM, I even took a fast heavy and loaded it up with a narc, and nothing but double HS and a heat bank to use as a spotter. Still fried.

Seriously go through the .json files for haydes rim. Look at the Bombardier - I and the pilliagers and let me know what you would do against 4 each of those in a mountainous terrain where they refuse to be drawn away or separated. It’s 4-8 and they can shutdown any 2 mechs per turn.

With deleting the files, you run the risk of a mission that has those mechs specifically listed as the OpFor not working. I don't know if any do that, but there could be some. So if you've given up changing tactics to deal with it, you'd probably be better off changing how much heat damage infernos do instead.

Does the mod add inferno LRMs, though? Because they are supposed to be SRM only, and that means they can't fire indirectly.

For the rest, called shots ought to help. If you have the firepower, straight through the center torso is a good solution (or a Marauder with Ultra 2s going head hunting). But you can also wipe out a side torso and reduce the amount of incoming fire that way. You could also use a mech with lots of heat dissipation ability and evasion, and then don't fire weapons, so that all your heat dissipation is available to deal with the infernos.

I have a marauder with UAC 2’s and an annihilator with multiple guass, uac 5’s and 2’s. The alpha is 459. The alpha on the marauder is over 350. I jacked up a stalker to be a walking lrm machine with 4xlrm 20’s. I put a SLDF Black Knight with DHS & a heat bank++. I had an Atlas 2 with 6 snub ppc++ (over 500 alpha) and the closet I came was destroying 6 mechs. As long as one of those F@$&@king bombardiers was alive with someone to spot it was impossible. I know Infernos aren’t suppose to be capable of indirect fire. I believe that the way the mod and the 1.9 update interact is to make these variants WAY too over powered. I was mostly asking if anyone else had encountered this problem. Apparently not. I appreciate the suggestions of what Mudpony is saying, but yeah, I’ve tried all of that. And Squidbob, WTF are you doing on this post? You are bringing nothing to this conversation. Either say something constructive or just go bother someone else. I’m posting this to share my experience and see if anyone else has encountered something similar. Your posts have been a wasteful distraction.

Have you considered discussing this with the author of the mod directly?
