Sorry, but you are Mercenaries. This should be self evident.
If you can still do 2-3 skull missions, and the star map still has 2 skull planets, you should be able to find pirate missions you can do. It just might be tedious and time-consuming to do so.
(that said, you can absolutely complete the game without the Black Markets. ++ gear starts showing up in the loot of missions around 3-3.5 skulls, especially basic stuff like MLas/SRMs/ACs. You just won't be able to get get lostech mech chassis easily.)
I can easy do 5 skull missions now with mostly basic gear but i want the cool stuff to play about with the mechs and use special mechs.
I will try to find them missions but it could take a long time to get my rep back up.
The guy above saying dont tank rep with them to begin with... yikes who shet in your bed this morning? I havent played in years when i pick the game up i dont plan ahead for this and the missions ive been doing have been vrs pirates.... im playing on hard so it was VERY slow to progress as i need loads of parts for mechs and i start with like 30 and 40 ton mechs...
Don't fuss about refusing the Black Market offer, that randomly appears so you will get future offers. Sounds like your well into the career doing 5 skull missions, so what Wesnef said about difficulty increasing with career is true if your doing the campaign, on the career the difficulty doesn't change.
If your doing the Campaign it might be a case of not been able to improve you rep, i.e. bridges burned with them as no low skull missions available. If so cosy up to one of the house by doing their missions exclusively and you will get enough rep to ally with them. Once so you get access to unique and Lostech equipment through their stores.
(personally, I've never Allied with anyone, I don't like locking out possible contracts to do. Yeah, I'm a merc. :D)
TBH its a pretty ♥♥♥♥♥♥ system locking most stuff behind pirates... least i know for next time
IIRC the black market was much less important in earlier versions of the game, in that there was a lot less in the way of fancy gear and the black market had a more limited selection anyway. I also don't mind a reason to not completely beat on the pirates since they're otherwise much too convenient as punching bags. But yes, it's something that can (inadvertently) increase replay value!
Agreed, my first playthrough I didn't get the option to access it until after I completed the campaign. Although I was lucky to salvage a whole awesome on the graverobbing campaign mission which was a massive boost along with the highlander
But yeah I doubt I can fail any mission and I'm playing on hard. The hardest part for me is early game as using 30 and 40 ton mechs are so weak and your pilots can't hit jack!
Do I just restart and focus pirates? I feel like I'm missing so many fun items!
Only unique items I got this game was 2x heatsink d and 1 got killed. A snub + 10 damage and it got killed...
I found a gausrifle for sale for 1.5 mil so bought that.
Ecm bought that.
Some heatextenders.
2x Uac with reduce tonnage.
Rest of my rares are just basic items ++
No special mechs of they even exist?
No other special items or nada.
Maybe have to do some notepad editing to cheat pirate rep tbh
