Double Heatsinks
Is it possible to buy double heatsinks from shops in this game? If so, where?

They can be purchased on systems that have old Star League bases.
You can search for old bases on the star map at the top right

Yeah, "Former StarLeague Presence" is the tag. That gives a chance they can appear in the shop.

The other way to get them is to gain access to the Black Market, and buy lostech Mechs (either full ones, or parts if you have the option set for mechs built with parts to have all their equipment intact)

Sorry but the game took all the lostech and made it readily available tech.

Cool, thanks.

Consider this: Many very good builds can be made without double heat sinks. While double heat sinks are good - they also take up a lot of space in your mech. Trying to outfit your entire lance with double heat sink builds could be a issue depending at what point you are at, in the game.

sometimes I buy one of those medium mechs with double heat sinks. Only time I see them is as part of some lostech variant mech.

assuming you have heavy metal, buying the Bull Shark MAZ in parts to make a full mech will give you basically 4 ER medium lasers that hit like Standard Large Lasers, three or more Double heatsinks from the body of the mech, LB 10X ammo, lighter than usual Ultra 5 and LB 10X guns, and a 95 ton killing machine. Honestly, nothing you can buy from the Black Market compares to it, nothing has the slam dance brute force the mech can deliver on the battlefield, and for a measly 2.something million? Please. It is the unmodded game changer you have been looking for. Get even better Black Market and House Special Market weapons to replace the four autocannons with 4 Ultra AC 5 with the full ton removed from its weight and you have death with nearly full armor to boot from your refit that you can walk around and blast heavy and some assault mechs into scrap by targeting the center torso. My favorite config is four full "+" Ultra AC 5's and two ER mediums from the original config then armor it up and chuck in ammo and Double heatsinks. Death.

DHS can be hard to find in enough volume to have an entire lance outfitted in them. The are really handy but not a necessity. I think after all my time i only have like 5 maybe 8

Cain the Bullshark MAZ is a really solid suggestion! Thanks.

I got all 3 DLC, but never saw a Bull Shark offered at store.. or anywhere in the game at all.. (playing unmodded campaign).
That said, I generally buy mech parts at the BM to stock up on DHS (never saw them offered on their own), and yeah, stick to mech PARTS, as buying a full mech is way more expensive (at least at standard 3-part assembly).

For me, walking death is an Annihilator with 2 Gauss++ (-2ton, -1slot), 1 LBX-10++ (+2dmg, -1ton), 2 LBX-2 (+2dmg, +50%crit) and 2 M-Laser+++ (+3 Acc, +50%crit). Any light/med gets instantly "annihilated", so are like 50% of heavies, and assaults are at least severily damaged.

So if I am not playing easymode just headshotting enemies with a couple of Marauders, that Annihilator is my main force. :archduck:

DHS can sometimes be found in Black Markets or faction stores, and very rarely regular stores on Rich/Former Star League planets.

Well, I am nearly through the campaign story (just about to start the final assault), and never saw DHS offered so far (on their own). Either I am just unlucky, or they are not commonly offered on vanilla campaign.

That's possible in the campaign - the majority of the map is closed to you and there aren't that many former Star League systems in the Periphery. I know Kimi is one, but don't recall if there are others offhand, and I think there's only 1-2 in Arano space. Additionally, if you've tanked rep with the Taurians, which is highly likely, they won't sell to you and so their former SLDF systems are useless. In Campaign mode, the most reliable source of DHS is the black market, but those all come from 'Mechs, not standalone.

In Career mode, this would be very odd if you're intentionally checking systems with a prior SLDF presence.

Pretty sure you need to "unlock" the Bull Shark. You get a free variant from the Heavy Metal flashpoint that involves the Dobrev, the white dot instead of the yellow ones. About half way though you get a free Bull Shark, not quite as good due to the unremovable artillery cannon. After that you can buy them. My favorite mech in the game.

Buy SLDF mechs from the Black Market and strip them for double heatsinks. This works on both campaign and career. I play career mode with Unequipped Mechs so I have to buy the full mech to get the DHS. However, that can still be worth it considering the amount of C-Bills one rakes in during the course of a Kerensky career run.
