I mean, if Microsoft would actually put some attention to the IP they got there and how to turn it profitable, they might ponder a ressurection of the IP, not sure about the actual numbers for the original games in regards of "profit", but I am confident that, while the BT universe in itself is rather niche, it generaly offers alot of opportunity for interesting story drives, and anyways, a good strategy/tactical RTS game revolving around big stompy robots has alot of appeal in itself.
Now that I think about it, kinda strange that as someone who has been interested in games made by FASA and flight games (both sim and arcade)for decades. I have never checked out the Crimson Skies games. May try them out sometime later.
Not a big fan of first-person/cockpit games (like the Mechwarrior ones), and I don't think I had PC access back when MC1 & 2 were out. Looked at a couple Let's Play vids when people talked about the games here in 2018, and I don't think I'd have liked them. Not big on RTS gameplay, especially faster-paced (I played a couple Warcrafts, Starcraft, and Total Annihilation a bit, but always on Very Slow.)
A new Crimson Skies could be interesting, depending on it's style (flight sim, or top-down, or. . .?). And I seriously doubt I'll ever see a Renegade Legion or Earthdawn game. :D
The second game is a lot more open and frankly more interesting even if it goes all arcade.
I know that has a net negative chance of ever happening, but I have all of FASA's "Renegade" boxed sets (Centurion, Legion, Interceptor and Leviathan) staring at me from my gaming shelf.
