hi, I was just wondering if anyone knows if you can get hit by this event multiple times or not? Because this time i had the spare 2.5mil but I kinda wanna know if i have to save up the same amount of c-bills if it happens again in the future,

You only need to pay once for membership.
The more they like you the less it costs. At 2.5 Mil they do not like you much - prices will also be high.

Also the more they like you the lower the prices for equipment

Edit: also the event will come back "eventually" if you pass it up the first time.

No, there is an event where they will ask you to "Renew" your membership. That is the "Black Market Shakedown" the OP is referring to.
I have played about 5 careers and I have only seen it happen once per, but you never know. Never was a big deal for me as I try to stay friendly with Pirates. Only 50K if they like you.

That event came up three different times for me until I became Enemy to them. I guess I'll miss the black market this time.

The event can happen randomly just like all the others, the more they like you the less it will cost you if it happens.

If they like you they only ask for 50,000

In my current campaign->career I'm liked by the pirates but have still been asked to renew my membership twice now. 1300+ days and counting.

ok thanks for the answers, yeah i am hated by pirates in this playthrough, but i adjusted my game files so i can't get loated so i can still buy things at the black markets. But I'll start saving up some serious cash then.

I have only seen it happen once each campaign, so it might be a one time thing. I always start the game doing pirate contracts though, 50k or even free is great early on when you have no money.

Never had it happen to me, but I'll keep an eye out. Also, i tend to be friendly with the pirates. I try to mix things up and not target any one faction too often. Gotta keep it balanced because a Mercs gotta earn that cash...

Shakedown is disabled for 365 days after it occurs, so it will be more than a year before it happens again. (how much longer depends on event RNG)
As for cost:
Rep -80 or less = 2.5mil
Rep -79 to -40 = 1mil
Rep -39 to -20 = 500k
Rep -19 to 19 = 250k
Rep 20+ = 50k

Not paying results in being locked out of the blackmarket for 1 year+ (again depending on event RNG).
