Weird AI behaviour killing own mechs?
Playing BTA on meet and escort convoy mission for Word of Blake against Wolfs Dragoons.

Spawned close to area to meet my convoy and there were three lances totalling 12 mechs against me, one guarding lance and two support lances. They were almost on top of my lance so I was expecting to get smashed as I only had one lance of four mechs. My planning was to survive the first turn where 8 evasion is in effect and then likely withdraw as probably wouldn't survive the mission in any shape to make it worth doing.

Then a bizarre thing happened, the escort lance attacked the guard lance, and visa versa, both ignoring me. Not wanting to interrupt an opponent who is making a mistake I manoeuvred my lance to a better position avoiding the temptation to shoot or even sensor lock any of them so as not to provoke retaliation.

Second turn two did take a shot at my mechs, but the remainder kept blasting each other, so kept moving into a better spot without taking any hostile action.

By third turn the guard lance had been reduced to one mech, and the support lances had lost two mechs, only at this stage did they start seriously attacking me, although three kept shooting each other. Needless to say managed to do the mission with no serious damage as they conveniently did most of the work for me.

Anyone else have this happen?

Addendum: Happened again, looks like it is the Tooth of Ymir mercenary group that engages in friendly fire against Wolfs Dragoons, very weird.... :steamfacepalm:

You sure it's not just some mixup in the mission text, and effectively it is just a "standard" mission of fighting 2 factions that fight each other as well?

At least I had mix ups regarding the actual OpFor, like talking about fighting pirates, but the actual OpFor is Lyran troops.

No it wasn't that, in the second mission a drop ship did appear about turn 4 and left behind a lance which I cleaned up as there was only one tank left from the previous two lances, but previous to that the other two lances were shooting each other.

I managed to kill the target as it was an assassination mission. Not sure if it mattered who killed "the Terrorist", but wasn't taking any chances.

I suspect it is a bug with the Tooth of Ymir mercenaries not identifying friend from foe.
