Best mods not using Rogue Tech
Okay so i find Rogue Tech insufferable. Its a mess of tabs and just numbers and way way WAY too much inventory and things to keep track of.
What mods would you recommend that adds new mechs, tanks, and hopefully lets you the player use tanks, but isn't Rogue Tech?

if you want player tanks but roguetech isnt to your tastes than BTA is your best bet unless you want to put in alot of effort to get tanks playable in another mod as only BTA and RT come with that out of the box

- Battletech Extended
Base game mechanics but with more mechs and weapons*, full inner sphere map that changes over time and includes the Clan Invasion in 3050.
(* not as many weapons as Roguetech, mind you).

- Battletech Advanced 3062
More game mechanics, like needing to use light mechs as scouts even into the endgame, full IS map, more mechs, more weapons, but no timeline.

I think Battletech advanced light is going to be perfect for me

I recommend XAI if you're looking for a more vanilla experience with a much needed rebalance and improved ai. Personally I found those major mods are bloated af.

personally I can't stand xai, the balance changes are silly in my opinion and it tramples the established lore of the universe

It's a necessary change. I don't care about lore, I like challenges. If only your merc can customize your lance and make it op while everyone runs weak ass stock mechs in the name of lore that is just a poorly designed video game. XAI also nerfs all the op ♥♥♥♥ like precision strike, melee, or even sensor lock which makes sense to me.

If I think lore is more important I would be reading a BT novel, not playing a video game.

BTA is wonderful. It also allows you to engage in combined arms. I started a game of it recently where in the very first mission, a Saladin zoomed at full speed (beyond my detection range) and blapped one of my lighter mechs out of existence with it's LBX/20. I won, and limped out. Decided to check the shop for tanks of my own, to screen with, and found better. SO MUCH BETTER. The shop had a pair of Chapperal Artillery Tanks. So now /I/ have a pair of Chappys, and I take every single 'Destroy Base' I find, because I can freaking shell it with artillery for easy money.

Most mods nerf the OP stuff like precision shot and give the AI a more equal footing, xai is hardly unique in that, and more or less uses the work other mods did to accomplish that.

As for the lore breaking nature of xai, agree to disagree, but no need to be disrespectful to me and tell me not to play.

I don't see how anything in my post is being disrespectful to you. You were literally crapping on other mod first and then claim to be disrespected. To me it seems like you're just triggered when someone prefers other mod instead of yours.

For me XAI and Hyades Rim are the only overhaul mod that I consider good because they don't force you to add 40 gb of junk to play it.

I read your last part of reading a book instead of playing the game as a slight. If that's not how you intended it, then I apologize. Trust me, I'm not crapping on xai, merely giving my critique of its changes. If I wanted to crap on it I have a lot I could say about the mod and it's creator, that I'm not. We both can agree at least that hyades rim is good.

BTA 3062 is exactly the mod I always wanted. Gave me everything I wanted, clan tech, combined arms warfare and advanced the timeline to the FedCom civil war era. I got into the BatleTech universe around the time MechWarrior 4 and MechCommander 2 were released so this is the era I still like the most.

Have fun playing, I already got over one hundred hours of fun playing BTA 3062. :davion:

I think its great that we have all these major overhauls to choose from. Ive been trying them out to see which one I like best.

I will NEVER understand why - in a Battletech context - players would choose to pilot such second class things as tanks
