Some may come with a self extracting zip file that as long as you don't try to outsmart it does all the work for you?
at least for Modtek, Didn't look at the mod loader.
there just like make a mod folder, probably not in program files and throw things places but we won't tell you what things in what places. also the thing we were using we are using something else now.
rogue tech download the launcher and run it fill out the 2 fields for where the game is and where you are putting the cache press the button and it installs
BTA3062 same as RT, for Bex go to the discord and instructions are present.
most of the others if you can be bothered to read the instructions that are normally on the mod page
So yeah, for every mod just follow its instructions
Have you even bothered to look before you said that.... Literally on the modtek page: https://github.com/BattletechModders/ModTek/blob/master/INSTALL.md
Larger mods like BTA and rt even provide installers that do all the work for you
Depends on what you are installing. If you are installing a large mod pack, use the instructions and the version of modtek they come bundled with.
If you are just installing a few smaller mods on your own, then install modtek following the instructions I linked above. Then download the mods, unzip them and put them in the mods folder the modtek installation process has you make
Step 2) Spread holy oils over your intended install harddrive
Step 3) Offer a prayer to Blake and the Master
Step 4) Right Click .exe and "Run As Administrator"
Step 5) Replace flesh with cybernetic components while you wait for the mod to install
Step 6) Chant in a mix of Greek and Latin then start the game up
Confused at what else you might need?
2) follow them
*Gets out candles and robes*
those instructions (which after 7 hours steam is still waiting to be verified are garbage.
I made a /mods folder because one didn't exist and extracted the zip as is into it.
it can't find any mods. so its obviously missing steps. and the glaring 'we don't use any of this anymore' notes all around are also pretty alarming, since... it doesn't work.
the instructions are basically
Step 1. download Zip.
Step 2. ????
step 3. Profit.
they are garbage.
Then you clearly didn't read or follow the instructions no where did it tell you to make a mods folder. Please re-read and follow the directions it gives. Thousands of people have used them to successfully install modtek. If you didn't do it correctly then that's on you, not the instructions
The thing I downloaded yesterday didn't have a mods folder in the .zip. pretty sure I got it from the same place. but god knows, it has the same name as this zip but yeah.
