I wish they make Battletech 2 with Unreal Engine 5 , or Mechcommander 3
I think Battletech game looks good , and sounds even better. The problem is that you dont feel that mechs are made with metal. With Unreal Engine 5 we could have a trully next generation battletech game with great special effects , sound , lighting and physics , and so on.Also the loading screen could be much shorter.

so lets see turn based tactical game and you want the unreal engine to be used.

all the people that look at completely the wrong king of game engine which a heap of its own faults and problems and say it would be perfect. get a clue maybe in 5 years time we might get another game.

I keep trying to play this game, but there is just something about using Mechs which can step on tanks utterly destroying them like they were old school green berets. As near as I can compare on scale, tank crew personnel are each about the size of Leprechauns. Then it is just clunky and stuttering with spurts of fast motion on the maps.

I felt like we just had this thread but may as well repeat it, you don't want anything in the ♥♥♥♥♥♥♥♥ that is the Unreal Engine 5 at the moment, trust me.
If you really want something that's a Battletech-esque game that's new there's that Phantom Brigade that's worth trying out.

It's because the mechs are scaled way up compared to the terrain and vehicles for ease of viewing. Wouldn't be surprised if they were 50% or more over scale.

Battletech Mech dimensions are intentionally left vague but the size charts we do have place them at an average of 8-12 meters. Then again this is based on derpy artwork where things like the Commando are about 8.5 meters tall but a whopping 6 meters of it is just their legs!
Tallest Battlemechs generally get is about 14.5 meters, and that's for extremely tall ones like the Banshee. Otherwise they wouldn't fit in a Leopard, which incidentally we do have dimensions for. On the other extreme side Mechs like the Hornet, UrbanMech and Flea based on artwork we've been given place it roughly between 4-6 meters tall.

So roughly the height of a standard interstate light pole, or the height of a 4 storey building. Compare that to the maps which have large light pole lined roadways, or a 4 story building on the urban map. Most of the models are scaled way larger than 12 meters.

If the mechs and tanks were all to scale you would drive/walk into a forest and that would be your mech invisible on the map, in a urban situation you would be a tiny thing.

Pretty much. Leopard is only 22.4 meters tall 24.5 meters if you take the pocket warship variant Battlemechs in Battletech are actually quite a lot smaller than most people think. They're scaled up in game as they'd be relatively kind of hard to see otherwise, kind of like why infantry get scaled up in RTS games.

The tallest mech is the Annihilator at 21 meters (atlas is 18)

So that is what one should use as scale to orient

If you are referring to what you are referring to that was pretty much retconned straight away. Partly because of the screeching on the Battletech forums, mostly because they realised that it absolutely broke the scaling of everything else established in the universe.

It is to the point of game breaking to me. Upscaling your units to be seen and down scaling the enemy to keep them from being seen is a cheap cheesy back alley difficulty mechanic when a battlemech stomps a tank 9 visually times larger than its foot and destroys it when the tank should be half the size of the mech. Scaling and combat interactions were this game makers only real job and they went with pretty instead.

good news, if you hate the game no one is forcing you to play or come here and complain.

you are off topic.

as for your earlier comment about people size face the fact most mechs would need the pilot in liquid form look at the places that are supposed to be the cockpits and you will notice you couldn't fit people in them.

I am sorry, does the conversation not include "visual", "feel", along with "special effects , sound , lighting and physics , and so on"

See that little mouse indicator by my name saying I own the game? That gives me the right to discuss both positive and negative aspects of the game as long as I dont go to a forum flaming someone angrily. ^^^

Topic of this thread "I wish they make Battletech 2 with Unreal Engine 5 , or Mechcommander 3" if you are not discussing that subject you are off topic.

this thread isn't about what you like or dislike about the current game, go make a thread if you need to vent.
