Gauss++ over UAC10++ for Annihilator?
Would you rather have an Annihilator loaded up with four Gauss++ or four UAC10++? Pros and cons of each loadout?

Depends on how you have your lance setup and what tactics you plan on following. And if your pilots are any good.

The whole point of Gauss is long range. UAC10 not so much.

let me respond this way. i used to play (and one day will return to playing) BTA3062. when i managed to salvage a Monster mech (150t) i kitted it out with quad gauss rifles.
when i salvaged another Monster, i just had to try out quad RAC5 and fell in love with that one right away :D when they spin it out, there's mayhem :D

so i'm a huge fan of Gausses. love the long range and solid punch of single shell. BUT UACs and RACs are not far behind the first place :P
not to mention ammo is not volatile. the gun is, but there's crit padding for that..

Given the weight and damage numbers the uac5++ is hard to not pick.

Depends on your style of play really. If you like getting into close-mid range go with the ac/10s. Want to do long-mid go with gauss

The other thing is heat management, ammo, armor and backup weapons (med lasers)

The META is just massed UAC/5s and called shots on cockpits. It's braindead, basically fool-proof, and the only stronger strategy is LRM boating, but that's primarily for PVP when you don't care if you break everything in sight.

As I'd build them the 4×UAC10++ is a bit better for headcapping and vastly better for CT core, although to be fair the Gauss version has more armor and runs much cooler.

But better than both I'd go with a 5×UAC5 or (even better) 5×UAC2++ 3×ERLL/LL++.

Some players call the Gauss Annihilator GaussZilla) That is, it is as powerful as Godzilla

While playing the BEX mod one of my first encounters in Clan invasion space was with a UAC2 monster (forgot the name). It managed to severely cripple or outright kill my mechs with a single salvo, while staying out of sensor range. So packing a sh*tload of UAC2's is about the nastiest thing you can do with a 100T assault in my book :steiner:

Edit: I looked it up and that monster was called Kraken (or Bane), carrying no less than 10 UAC2's! No wonder I got perforated lol.

Vanilla MAR-3R with 3xUAC2++ is better than any Assault because of the initiative advantage and headshot bonus.

4 UAC/5s with 8 tons of ammo is more than enough for an ANH build. You have 15 turns of full salvos, and can use the weight you save on more cooling and armor. Or even some jump jets.

I use 2x Gauss and 3x UAC2. The thing is capable of laying down so much lead I don't think the exact loadout really matters much though.
